On the 11th, the world's largest floating offshore wind power platform "Mingyang Tiancheng" was safely towed to the Pearl River Estuary under the escort and protection of the Guangzhou Maritime Department, and will subsequently go to the Yangjiang Offshore Wind Farm for offshore installation. After the wind power platform is officially put into operation, it will generate 54 million kWh of electricity per year, which can meet the daily electricity needs of 30,000 households for a year, and will provide technical and equipment support for the development of my country's offshore wind power towards large-scale and deep sea.
The navigation width of the channel required for the towing of the "Ming Yang Tian Cheng" is 212-227 meters, and the total distance is about 191 nautical miles. The escort support work faces many challenges, such as complex hydrodynamics, strong influence of wind and current, narrow channel and dense traffic flow, and complex towing procedures.
"It is the first time that a floating wind turbine platform has been towed out of the port in its entirety at Guangzhou Port, so there is no precedent or historical data to refer to. Considering the large wind-exposed area of the wind turbine platform, the limited maneuverability of the fleet during towing, and the great influence of wind currents and prone to swaying, we have carried out preliminary safety research in collaboration with Wuhan University of Technology, Guangzhou Pilot Station and other institutions, using a large-scale ship maneuvering simulator to simulate the towing and maneuvering of a floating wind turbine. We have conducted a comprehensive analysis and research on channel conditions, towing schemes, tugboat configurations, and towing operation techniques to provide technical support for the towing of the entire platform out of the port." said Ye Bin, director of the Guangzhou Maritime Safety Administration Command Center.
It is reported that the highest point of the impeller of "Mingyang Tiancheng" is 219 meters, the maximum width in the air is 369 meters, and the displacement is about 12,250 tons. It is a floating wind power platform independently developed by my country. It is the first in the world to adopt a dual-wind rotor and dual-host design, and the two towers are arranged in a "V" shape. "Mingyang Tiancheng" is the world's first offshore wind power platform with two towers installed on a floating foundation. The total capacity reaches 16.6 megawatts and can be used in a wide range of sea areas around the world with a water depth of more than 35 meters.
