Reference News reported on August 12According to AFP on August 11, the Palestinian ambassador to Moscow said that Palestinian National Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas will begin a visit to Moscow on the 12th to discuss the Gaza war with Russian President Putin.

TASS reportedly quoted the Palestinian ambassador as saying that Abbas will arrive in Moscow on the 12th and meet with Putin on the 13th.

The Palestinian ambassador said the two leaders will discuss developments in Gaza since October 7 last year. "They will discuss the role Russia can play. We are in a very difficult situation and Russia is a country with which we have close relations. We need to consult each other," he said.

The report pointed out that for many years, Moscow has tried to balance its relations with all major countries in the Middle East, including Israel and Palestine. However, since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and the war between Israel and Hamas last year, Russia has moved closer to Hamas and Iran.

The report said that the Kremlin has repeatedly criticized Israel's response to the Hamas attack on October 7 last year and called for restraint. (Compiled by Pan Xiaoyan)
