On the morning of August 6, at the National Defense Education Base in Sanlongwan Village, Quantang Town, Xiangxiang City, Wen Bin, general manager of Xiangxiang Junfeng Enterprise Management Co., Ltd., dressed in camouflage uniform and looking heroic, led the summer camp campers in formation training. They are all primary and secondary school students from Xiangxiang.
Under the scorching sun, the campers stood in upright military postures, their voices were loud, their movements were neat and powerful, and their dark faces were full of youthful vigor.
Founded an errand company and an information company, and never backed down in the face of setbacks
In 2010, putting on a military uniform was Wenbin’s proudest thing; two years later, he was also troubled about what to do after taking off the military uniform.
"When I just retired from the army, I felt confused and out of touch with society." Wen Bin said that later he attended an adaptability training course for retired soldiers, but decided to start his own business.
"He is perseverant and is our leader." In the eyes of Wang Haihua, an instructor at Xiangxiang Dongshan School, Wenbin still retains the pioneering spirit of a soldier.
In November 2013, Meituan Waimai was launched, and Wenbin saw business opportunities and decided to give it a try. He and his friends jointly developed small programs and apps, and planned to start errand companies and information companies.
In December 2015, Wenbin and his friends opened an errand running company. They rented a bungalow and their entire belongings were a phone, a computer, and three electric vehicles. Their services mainly included delivering meals, picking up goods, buying tickets, and picking up passengers at the station.
Wen Bin got up early and worked late, regardless of wind or rain. Once, at around 2 a.m., it was raining, and a customer wanted to buy something, so he called him. Wen Bin got up immediately, bought the things and delivered them to the customer. He was paid 20 yuan for his errands, which was the biggest income in the first 10 days of opening.
Although Wenbin was mentally prepared for the cold errand market, it was still beyond his expectations that the company earned more than 2,000 yuan in 10 days of opening. It seems that it takes time for citizens to understand and accept the errand company.
After the errand company closed, Wenbin and his friends founded Hunan Qijing Information Co., Ltd., a mobile mall, and after some efforts, attracted 150 stores in Xiangxiang City to settle in. However, due to lack of funds and experience, internal management conflicts and other reasons, Wenbin eventually withdrew from the company.
Although he suffered setbacks one after another, the true qualities of a soldier are that he never backs down in the face of setbacks. Wen Bin summed up the reasons for his failure and felt that his entrepreneurial positioning was not accurate enough and he needed to do what he was good at.
Build a national defense education base to create jobs for retired soldiers
Many people joined the army when they were 17 or 18 years old and had not received higher education. After retiring, they felt out of touch with society for a period of time, and it was difficult for them to apply the skills they learned in the army when they returned to their local areas.
How to help retired soldiers adapt to society and find employment and start businesses has always been a concern. After careful consideration, Wen Bin decided to return to his old profession, not only to contribute to the national defense education of young people, but also to create jobs for retired soldiers.
In 2019, Wenbin founded Junzhou Outdoor Development Co., Ltd. in Changsha, starting his entrepreneurial journey in national defense education.
"There was only a 20-square-meter office, and I had to do everything myself." Thinking back to the time, Wen Bin said frankly: "It was so hard!"
In 2021, the clarion call of rural revitalization called Wen Bin, and he resolutely returned to his hometown, Sanlongwan Village, Quantang Town, Xiangxiang City. With the support of the Xiangxiang Municipal People's Armed Forces Department and the Municipal Veterans Affairs Bureau, he founded Xiangxiang Junfeng Enterprise Management Co., Ltd. and built a national defense education base in Sanlongwan Village, mainly carrying out skills training for veterans, as well as quality development and national defense education for enterprises, institutions, and primary and secondary schools.
At present, the Sanlongwan Village National Defense Education Base in Quantang Town, Xiangxiang City has cooperated with more than 100 schools to form a national defense education system covering kindergartens, primary schools, junior high schools and high schools, developed courses such as military and police courses, patriotism knowledge classes, and one-yuan city survival challenge competitions, and resettled more than 30 retired soldiers.
God rewards hard work. In 2023, Wen Bin stood out from more than 150 military-started enterprises in the provincial veterans' innovation and entrepreneurship competition and won the first prize in the traditional industry and life service group.
In September this year, the 3rd National Veterans Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition will be held in Shaoshan City, and Wen Bin will represent our province.
On July 30, after Wen Bin returned from the disaster relief site in Xintang Village, Yisuhu Town, Xiangtan County, in addition to leading the summer camp campers in training, he also had to prepare for the competition, make PPTs, videos, and write manuscripts, and was very busy.
A tree never forgets its roots no matter how tall it is; a river always remembers its source no matter how far it flows. Wen Bin actively participates in disaster relief and helps people in need... He said that no matter how his identity changes, he is always a "soldier" of the people.
