↓↓↓New textbooks to be used in autumn The Ministry of Education pointed out that the textbooks revised according to the 2022 version of the compulsory education curriculum standards will be put into use in the fall semester of 2024. Regarding the use of new textbooks, the Ministry of Education has made arrangements in the early stage, and local governments are advancing them in a stable and orderly manner. Recently, the review procedures for the newly revised textbooks for compulsory education have been completed, and the unified textbooks for the three subjects of morality and law, Chinese, and history have passed the review of the National Textbook Committee. 1. The foreign language textbooks in the "Catalogue of Textbooks for the 2024 National Curriculum for Compulsory Education (revised according to the 2022 Curriculum Standards)" are equipped with listening materials, and the physical education and health textbooks are equipped with digital demonstration resources. They can be used free of charge on the national smart education platform for primary and secondary schools after the autumn semester starts in various places. 2. The Ministry of Education has organized the development of a compulsory education information technology teaching guide and supporting courseware, which will be put into use in the fall semester of 2024. All localities can use it free of charge on the national smart education platform for primary and secondary schools. 3. In order to meet the learning needs of students with low vision in compulsory education, according to the Law of the People's Republic of China on Building Accessible Environments, the Ministry of Education encourages publishing units to produce large-print textbooks based on the national curriculum textbooks for compulsory education, which will be included in the catalog of teaching materials after approval. The 2024 National Curriculum Teaching Materials Catalog for Compulsory Education (revised according to the 2022 Edition of the Curriculum Standards) includes large-print textbooks for the first time for students with low vision who attend regular classes in ordinary schools. Please coordinate with relevant departments to ensure accurate supply. Why do we need new textbooks? According to the notice of the Ministry of Education, the new textbooks are revised according to the 2022 version of the curriculum standards. Previously, the 2022 version of the new curriculum standards for compulsory education had been issued, which put forward new requirements for educational goals, educational content and teaching methods. The curriculum standards are the basis for the compilation of textbooks, and textbooks are the carriers for realizing the curriculum standards. The current old textbooks are written based on the 2011 version of the curriculum standards, so new textbooks are needed.Which grades will use new textbooks in the fall of 2024? Earlier, the education authorities said in response to questions from parents that in the fall of 2024, the nine-year subjects will use new textbooks starting from the first grade, that is, the first grade of primary school and the first grade of junior high school. The so-called "nine-year subjects" refer to subjects such as Chinese and mathematics that are available from the first to the ninth grade; non-nine-year subjects will use new textbooks starting from the first grade. The so-called "non-nine-year subjects" refer to history, physics, chemistry, etc. For example, the eighth grade physics textbook will be replaced with a new textbook in the fall. Please refer to the school’s notification for details. The following is the list of textbooks for the 2024 compulsory education national curriculum published by the Ministry of Education (revised according to the 2022 edition of the curriculum standards)
