"That's great! Our team members won the third prize in the 2024 'I Love the Motherland' National Youth Sailing Model Education Competition Finals." Recently, when the reporter interviewed at the Third Middle School of Liuzhi Special District, Liupanshui City, Dong Yiming, a member of the 25th China University of Science and Technology Graduate Teaching Group's Guizhou Liuzhi Special District Service Team, excitedly told everyone the good news.
It is worth mentioning that from July 2023 to date, of the three works submitted by Liuzhi Special Zone No. 3 Middle School to the 14th National Youth Science Image Festival in 2024, two were recommended to the national competition from the provincial level; many students participating in the 2024 Guizhou Model Open Competition were among the top 20 in the province; students participating in the 2024 Guizhou Teachers and Students Information Literacy Improvement Practice Activity won the first prize at the municipal team level, as well as multiple individual first prizes at the municipal level; two projects participating in the 2023-2024 AILD Labor Skills Competition were both shortlisted for the provincial competition semi-finals... The number of awards won in participating project competitions far exceeds that of previous years.

Why is there such a big improvement in just one year?
It turned out that with the help of the graduate teaching team of the University of Science and Technology of China, Liuzhi Special Zone No. 3 Middle School established five campus clubs, namely "Young Engineers", "Hanhai Ship Model Club", "Snail Shell Model Aircraft Club", "Computer Programming" and "Racing Car Model Club", to enrich campus cultural life and enhance students' innovative thinking.
In fact, in August 2023, when members of the graduate teaching team of the University of Science and Technology of China first came to Liuzhi Special District No. 3 Middle School to teach, they were thinking about how to do a good job in teaching.
"After much thought, we all agreed that we should give full play to our school's scientific and technological expertise and fully cultivate children's scientific and technological innovation thinking in addition to completing teaching tasks." Dong Yiming said that the team actively created a special project of "Science and Technology Teaching" volunteer service, established 5 science and technology clubs, covering a variety of fields such as aerospace and bridge engineering, and led nearly 200 students to participate in 6 science and technology competitions totaling 13 projects.
Liu Yuanhao is a student at the No. 3 Middle School of Liuzhi Special District. In the past, Liu Yuanhao was not considered a "good kid" because of his poor academic performance. After the graduate teaching team of the University of Science and Technology of China came, Liu Yuanhao joined the school's Hanhai Ship Model Club, and his talent was revealed - he won the second place in the 2024 Guizhou Model Open Competition and won the third prize in the 2024 "I Love the Motherland's Seas" National Youth Sailing Model Education Competition Finals.
There are many children like Liu Yuanhao in Liuzhi Special District No. 3 Middle School. "We have 268 members in five clubs," said Dong Yiming.
Today, the USTC graduate teaching team has completed one year of teaching, and the members are about to return to the university to complete the rest of their studies. Dong Yiming believes that under the leadership of the next USTC graduate teaching team, Liuzhi Special District No. 3 Middle School will continue to create new achievements in various science and technology competitions.
