Beijing News (Reporter Chen Lin) In the past three years since Beijing has been cultivating and building an international consumption center city, the supply of cultural tourism consumption has been improved and expanded, and a number of landmark cultural tourism projects have been completed and put into use. Universal Studios has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in Beijing, and the three major cultural buildings in the sub-center, such as the City Library, have become new Internet celebrity check-in spots for citizens and tourists.
At present, the city has five national-level all-region tourism demonstration zones in Yanqing, Huairou, Pinggu, Changping and Mentougou, 14 national-level nighttime cultural and tourism consumption clusters such as Qianmen Street, 798-751 Art District, Liangmahe Fengqing Waterfront, Hua Xi Live Wukesong, five national-level tourism and leisure districts such as Sanlitun Taikoo Li and Leduo Port Holiday Plaza, and Yanqing Haituo National Skiing Tourism Resort. Beijing (Tongzhou) Grand Canal Cultural Tourism Scenic Area was selected as a 5A-level scenic spot, and the city has 10 5A-level scenic spots. Gubei Water Town International Leisure Tourism Resort was identified as Beijing's first national-level tourist resort, achieving a "zero" breakthrough. Among the first batch of 42 national smart tourism immersive experience new space cultivation key projects announced by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Beijing alone has 8, ranking first in the country.
Sports consumption supply is more diversified. Over the past three years, more than 100,000 mass sports events of all levels and types have been held. The 2023-2024 season International Skating Union Figure Skating Finals, Short Track Speed Skating World Cup, Speed Skating World Cup, International Ski Federation Snowboard and Freestyle Skiing Big Jump World Cup, International Bobsleigh Federation Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup and many other international calendar events have been held in succession, presenting the largest ice and snow feast after the Winter Olympics, and once again rejuvenating the passion and vitality of the "Double Olympic City". The China Open, Beijing Marathon and Beijing International Long-distance Running Festival were successfully held; the World Swimming Federation Artistic Swimming World Cup in 2024 and 2025, the 2027 World Athletics Championships and the 2029 World Swimming Championships were successfully applied for, and the quality of the events was continuously improved. The Argentina-Australia International Football Invitational, the Tour of Spain China Challenge, the Equestrian Masters and other commercial events were successfully held, and the supply of high-quality international events was further enriched.
Digital trend consumption has become a trend. 26 Beijing-based live e-commerce bases have been identified, including Dongfang Zhenxuan, Panjiayuan, and Xiaomi. Online retail sales account for 35% of total retail sales, ranking among the top cities in China. A number of new digital consumption scenarios have been cultivated and created, including Shougang Park SoReal Metaverse Park. Beijing Smart E-sports Competition Center has officially been put into operation, and 78 companies including JD Xingyu and Jiashi Hui'an have been registered. The city has identified 3 batches of 31 municipal information consumption experience centers.
As of the end of April 2024, Beijing had a total of 114,500 5G base stations, with 52 5G base stations per 10,000 people, ranking first in the country.
