Overseas Chinese youth start their roots-seeking journey in Tianjin

China Youth Daily Client News (China Youth Daily/China Youth Network reporter Hu Chunyan) Recently, the 2024 Overseas Chinese Youth "China Roots Tour" Summer Camp hosted by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, undertaken by the Tianjin Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and co-organized by Tianjin Normal University was launched at Tianjin Normal University.
This summer camp is an important brand event of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese. It invites overseas Chinese youth to come to their motherland to trace their roots, study, exchange, and visit, so as to stimulate their interest in learning Chinese language and culture, deepen their cognition and understanding of their motherland, and enhance their identification with Chinese culture and the Chinese nation.

21 overseas Chinese youth participated in this 10-day summer camp, they came from the United States, Britain, Canada, Russia and other countries. Adhering to the theme of "Chinese language, culture, and root-seeking", Tianjin Normal University carefully prepared a variety of cultural courses and practical activities based on the characteristics of overseas Chinese youth.
The activity uses the city's history and culture as teaching materials and Chinese-style modernization practice scenes as classrooms. It not only provides language and cultural learning, but also provides rich social practice experience. The teacher led everyone to understand Tianjin's historical changes, culture and art, folk customs, delicious food, and modern urban development achievements. Young people from all over the world are deeply attracted by Tianjin's unique urban charm of combining Chinese and Western cultures and blending ancient and modern times. While understanding the city's changes, they perceive the connotation of urban development and historical contributions, and appreciate the city's unique cultural charm.
In the Tai Chi fan class, the campers slowly got up and moved the fan with their bodies, sometimes light and graceful, sometimes strong and powerful. They not only learned the basic moves of Tai Chi fan, but also realized the cultural charm of Tai Chi fan and the Chinese wisdom and spirit it embodies.
At the Tianjin Museum, Ancient Culture Street, Wudadao, and Haihe River, the campers gained an in-depth understanding of Tianjin’s historical significance and important position in China’s modernization process, and felt Tianjin’s rich historical and cultural heritage.
In Tianjin Binhai New Area, everyone visited the National Maritime Museum, known as the "Forbidden City on the Sea", and started a journey to explore the mysteries of the ocean. Through viewing exhibitions and interactive experiences, the friends not only learned about the mysteries of the ocean, marine civilization, long history and brilliant achievements, but also felt the vigorous development of China's marine industry.
According to reports, this summer camp is not only a journey to trace the roots of hometown and feel the affection of family, but also a real experience for Chinese people to feel the practice of Chinese modernization. The campers deepened their understanding of Chinese history and culture in a real, three-dimensional and comprehensive way through vivid social practice.
