Overseas Network, August 11 According to a report on the U.S. News Weekly website on the 10th, a joint report recently released by Red Balloon and Public Square showed that the U.S. job market situation has become increasingly severe in recent months, and nearly half of job seekers in the United States need more than a year to find a new job.

The research report is based on interviews with 100,000 job seekers and employees, and found that 44% of job seekers have been unemployed for more than 12 months. About 64% of job seekers said that it is more difficult to find a new job than six months ago; 71% of job seekers said that their financial situation is worse than a year ago. The latest US employment report showed that non-farm payrolls increased by 120,000 in July, significantly lower than the 200,000 analysts predicted; the unemployment rate also rose to the highest level since October 2021, and the unemployment rate in July rose to a nearly three-year high of 4.3%.

Red Balloon CEO Clapper Chetters said the US is in a recession and "most people are really feeling the economic pain". Bean, a financial expert at the University of Tennessee at Martin, said even some emerging industries have recently experienced large layoffs. Human resources consultant Driscoll said that job seekers being unemployed for more than a year reflects the "serious flaws" in the US economy. "The current situation has disappointed job seekers. The longer they are unemployed, the harder it is for them to return to the workplace." (Overseas Network Hou Xingchuan)
