Although the launch of the new platform has sparked speculation about whether CATL will enter the C-end market, the company's top management made a clear statement at the opening ceremony, denying this possibility. CATL Vice Chairman Li Ping and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Luo Jian both emphasized that CATL will not build or sell cars, and its core business will continue to focus on the field of power batteries.
Luo Jian said in an interview that there is no need to prove its strength by simply manufacturing cars, but to focus on expanding the "cake" of new energy vehicles and promoting the healthy development of the entire industry through technological innovation and high-quality services. He clearly pointed out that CATL will neither directly participate in automobile manufacturing in the future nor adopt the CATL Inside strategy similar to Huawei's "HI model", that is, it will not simply put the CATL label on new energy vehicles.
According to data released by the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance, my country's power battery industry continued to maintain a high-speed growth trend in the first half of 2024, with significant growth in both production and sales. As an industry leader, CATL has served more than 14.05 million new energy vehicles and provided high-performance battery solutions for many well-known new energy vehicle models worldwide.
