The 21-year-old Hubei girl Zheng Qinwen shone at the Paris Olympics, shocking the entire tennis world with her strength and perseverance, and winning the first Olympic women's singles gold medal in history for the Chinese team.
The Olympic Games have become a hot topic. In addition to the athletes sweating and winning glory for the country in the arena, the light of "Made in China" is also shining in Paris. As the Olympic hydrofoil windsurfing project is underway, the new windsurfing manufactured by Suli Composite Materials (Hubei) Co., Ltd., as the only designated manufacturer of windsurfing equipment for the Olympic Games, also shines in the Olympic arena.
New windsurfing boards shine at the Paris Olympics
The thinnest part is 0.02 mm
On August 8, a reporter from Jimu News went to Gong'an County, Hubei Province, and saw workers skillfully operating grinding robots in the production workshop of Suli Composite Materials (Hubei) Co., Ltd. Seven robots were grinding hydrofoil boards, which are the company's flagship products. 700 hydrofoil boards are polished every day.
"Compared to the manual polishing method commonly used in the industry, the company introduced a grinding robot, which made the surface of the hydrofoil more uniform and more streamlined, with the thinnest part reaching 0.02 mm." Yan Zaixing, general manager of Suli Composite Materials (Hubei) Co., Ltd., told Jimu News, "The rear wing of the hydrofoil is made of all carbon fiber, which contains ten to twenty layers of carbon cloth. It is made of the latest materials from our top manufacturers, and then through our company's arrangement sequence, the structural toughness has reached the latest height, which meets the needs of extreme sports."
"The mechanical grinding torque is constant, and after the torque is constant, the grinding accuracy of all surface layers is controlled at about 0.02 mm, so our streamlined line design and surface smoothness are very uniform." Yan Zaixing introduced that the higher the precision, the smoother the surface, the smaller the resistance when gliding in the water, and the smoother it is.

Independently developed 3D scanning to improve product accuracy
Wang Guangxu, a technician at Suli Composite Materials (Hubei) Co., Ltd., introduced that the company independently developed 3D scanning and inspection equipment based on the needs of the Olympic Games, providing a reliable reference for the high-precision production of products.
"The thinner the hydrofoil, the faster it is in the water, and the more obvious the effect on improving the athlete's performance will be." Wang Guangxu told Jimu News reporter that the accuracy of 3D scanning can be less than 0.005 mm. Its function is to compare the specifications of the actual product with the standards set by the customer. Any slight error will be reported as an error.

Hydrofoil windsurfing originated in the Hawaiian Islands and quickly spread to Europe, Oceania and Southeast Asia, becoming a global sport. In order to keep up with the "pace of the world", Speed Composite Materials (Hubei) Co., Ltd. not only hired foreign engineers, but also established logistics warehouses in Europe. Whether it is the use of new materials or the iteration speed of production processes, it has obvious advantages in the industry.
"We now have 16 foreign engineers doing preliminary product development, sample trial production and testing for our products. In addition, customers from Switzerland, Hawaii and other countries will send their own engineers to Gong'an County's rivers and other conditions to conduct testing." Yan Zaixing introduced that the company already has obvious advantages in the industry, which is also an important reason why the company stands out in the fiercely competitive Olympic equipment market.
"Public Security Manufacturing" Becomes "Olympic Best Choice"
With strong technical strength and innovation capabilities, the surfboards produced by Suli Composite Materials (Hubei) Co., Ltd. became the designated equipment for Olympic teams from many countries as early as the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. At this year's Paris Olympics, the company once again became the only designated manufacturer of windsurfing and hydrofoil equipment, demonstrating the strong strength of "Made in China".
Yan Zaixing, general manager of Suli Composite Materials (Hubei) Co., Ltd., introduced the equipment for the hydrofoil project.
It is understood that since settling in Gong'an County in 2022, Suli Composite Materials (Hubei) Co., Ltd. has focused on the export segment of water sports equipment, with an annual output value of more than 150 million yuan.
"So far, all the hydrofoil equipment for the Paris Olympics has been produced by our company." Yan Zaixing told Jimu News that the equipment for the hydrofoil events of the 2028 Olympics has also been basically confirmed to be produced by the company, and the signing of documents is currently underway.
