When it comes to the renovation of home water and electricity circuits, many friends may watch it on site, but they don’t know what they are watching.
Among them, circuit transformation is particularly important because it is related to future electricity safety.
If we don’t know what to focus on, then we recommend that you just focus on these seven points.
1. Slotting
When renovating home circuits, the first thing to focus on is grooving.
For circuit modification, it is generally necessary to confirm the location first, that is, the location of the switches and sockets in each room.
After that, start from the distribution box and draw lines on the wall or the ground to various points.
After marking the line, the groove of the wire tube is opened according to the marked line.
What we need to pay attention to here is that the cable troughs cannot be opened randomly.
First, we need to dig the groove according to the line we draw. Moreover, the width and depth of the groove must meet the requirements. The groove should be neat and beautiful, and the bottom should be flat.
The key point to note here is that the parallel distance between the electrical conduit and the heating water pipe must be greater than 30 cm.
And try to avoid crossing the electrical conduit with water pipes and heating pipes.
Therefore, the wire grooves should be marked in advance and the direction should be arranged, and the distance between them and other wire tubes should meet the requirements as much as possible.
2. No horizontal grooves are allowed on the wall
For the grooves of the circuit, generally a certain number of grooves need to be opened on the wall.
Because there are usually sockets and light switches on the wall.
However, we must pay attention to one thing here, that is, it is forbidden to open grooves on the wall. Strictly speaking, it is forbidden to open grooves longer than 50 cm.
Therefore, when arranging the points, we try to arrange the grooves vertically on the wall.
This is because, if we open horizontal grooves on the wall, the wall will sink due to gravity, causing cracks in the grooves, which may pose a safety hazard to the wall.
Therefore, when we open the circuit groove, we usually open it vertically up and down, which is the most reasonable.
3. No Crossing of Grooves on the Ground
In fact, when renovating the circuit, the number of wire tubes laid on the ground is still quite large.
So some friends may dig trenches on the ground to lay out the electrical conduits.
Indeed, it is necessary to dig trenches on the ground and lay the wires in them.
Digging grooves in the ground can, to a certain extent, prevent the wire pipes from being damaged and reduce the hollowing rate of floor tiles.
However, we need to pay attention that when digging trenches on the ground, we should try to avoid crossing the trenches.
If the grooves cross on the ground and there is no way to avoid it, the order and method of arranging the crossed wire tubes must be properly handled.
The purpose of doing this is to minimize the impact of wire pipes protruding too much from the ground on tile laying.
Therefore, where the ground grooves intersect, the depth of the grooves should be made as deep as possible to reduce the height of the wire tube protruding from the ground.
4. The number of wires in the conduit is limited
After arranging the wire conduit, all we may need to do is thread the wires inside the conduit.
There is a requirement here, which is the number of wires threaded into the wire tube, which has strict requirements.
However, you cannot put as many wires as you want into a conduit. You may even find that some electricians have almost filled the conduit to the brim.
These practices are incorrect and will bring great hidden dangers.
According to the specifications for threading wires in a wire conduit, it is generally not advisable to exceed three wires.
As everyone knows, if there are too many wires in the wire tube, it will be basically difficult to replace the wires later.
According to the electrical construction specifications for electrical buildings, the cross-sectional area of the wires threaded through the conduit is not allowed to exceed 40% of the conduit diameter.
Another thing to note is that no wire joints are allowed in any wire conduit. It must be a whole wire, running from one base box to another.
Therefore, when we thread wires at home, we should pay special attention to the number of wires and whether there will be joints in the wires.
5. There are requirements for fixing the wire tube
In fact, after we have completed the layout of the wire pipe, we need to fix the wire pipe.
Many decoration companies are careless about the fixing of wire pipes, and the most common method is to use putty to seal the grooves.
A common result of this situation is cracking in the groove and long cracks along the line of the wire tube.
Therefore, we should also pay attention to the fixation of the wire tube in the groove.
The correct way is to use cement mortar or quick-drying powder and adopt point fixing. In the same groove, select several points for closed fixing.
In addition, the pre-buried junction boxes must also be firmly fixed to prevent loosening.
As for the wire pipes on the ground, they should be firmly fixed with pipe clamps.
After fixing with these methods, cement mortar is used uniformly to seal the grooves.
Therefore, the wire pipe in the groove must be fixed first and then sealed, instead of being sealed directly.
6. There are requirements for the reserved length of the wire ends
For the electrical wires running through the home, a certain length is generally reserved.
This is also what many friends wonder, why electricians wrap the wires around and around in the wire box.
In fact, a certain length of wires is reserved in this base box.
The purpose of reserving this length of wire is, firstly, to facilitate installation and connection of wires, and secondly, to facilitate maintenance.
Therefore, for the joint ends of the wires passing through the bottom box, there should be no nailing or riveting, and a certain length should be reserved.
My personal opinion is that when cutting the wires, a certain length should be reserved. The reserved length is generally close to 1/2 of the circumference of the bottom box.
For example, the base box of the common circuit we use is an 86 box with a circumference of 28 cm. Then, the length of the reserved wire is 28 ÷ 2 = 14 cm.
In fact, this has become a common practice, where most electricians will reserve 15 centimeters after threading the wires.
Therefore, for the electrical circuits in your home, after the electrician has threaded the wires, you can measure the length of the reserved wires, which is generally about 15 cm.
7. There are requirements for the division of wires
When renovating the circuit, one thing you need to pay attention to is that different wires must be laid and installed separately.
Because for home circuits, in addition to the 220-volt strong electricity, there is also weak electricity for transmitting signals.
For example, the telephone network cable or video surveillance cable at home, etc.
What we need to grasp here is that the strong current and the weak current must be laid and installed at separate distances.
Moreover, different low-voltage signal lines should be laid separately and not placed in the same wire tube to avoid mutual interference.
Of course, for weak current in home decoration, it is usually Internet phone, and the signal interference is very small. Therefore, weak current is generally laid and installed in a line tube in one area.
Therefore, for home circuit conduits, they are generally divided into two areas for laying and installation: high current and low current, so as to avoid crossover and interference.
When renovating home circuits, we should focus on the 7 points introduced above, because these 7 points are related to the safety of circuit use.
