On August 10, the award ceremony of the 24th World Chinese Students' Essay Competition and the opening ceremony of the 2024 "China Roots Tour" Summer Camp Essay Competition Theme Camp and Beijing Language and Culture University Camp, hosted by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and others, were held in Beijing.

This year's competition attracted more than 3.8 million students from 45 countries and regions. The jury finally awarded 20 special prizes, 1,500 first prizes, 6,000 second prizes, and 9,000 third prizes. The competition set themes including elements of China's excellent traditional culture, landscape culture, technological waves, the peaceful nature of Chinese civilization, and understanding of the world. According to relevant officials of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the World Chinese Students' Essay Competition not only shows the writing skills of Chinese students, but also expresses the friendship with the motherland, the inheritance of Chinese culture, the yearning for a better life, and the expectation for world peace and development.

It is reported that the World Chinese Students' Essay Competition was founded in 2000 and has been successfully held for 24 sessions. In 2022, the competition was selected into the list of national competition activities for primary and secondary school students in the 2022-2025 school year announced by the General Office of the Ministry of Education. Over the past 24 years, participating students have come from more than 60 countries and regions, with a total of more than 100 million participants.

On the same day, the 2024 "China Roots Journey" Summer Camp Essay Competition Theme Camp and Beijing Language and Culture University Camp opened. 40 campers from 13 countries and regions including Italy, Britain, France, and the United States will experience the cultural landscape and historical and cultural heritage of the ancient capital of Beijing through learning relevant language courses and field visits in 10 days, and gain a deeper understanding of Chinese language and culture.
