China News Service, Beijing, August 11 (Reporter Wang Xiaobin) The Grand Canal Cultural Tourism Scenic Area in Beijing (Tongzhou) held a special event for the summer of 2024, the Grand Canal Cultural Dialogue and the release of the micro-film "Meet the Canal". The event was co-organized by the Propaganda Department of the Tongzhou District Committee of the Communist Party of China in Beijing and the Tongzhou District Gardening and Greening Bureau. It aims to let more citizens understand the history of the canal and love the canal culture through the form of micro-films.
The micro-film "Meeting the Grand Canal" was produced by the Publicity Department of the Tongzhou District Committee of Beijing and the Tongzhou District Landscape Bureau, and produced by the Beijing (Tongzhou) Grand Canal Cultural Tourism Scenic Area Management Center. It was planned in 2022 and will be promoted simultaneously with the creation of the Grand Canal as a national 5A-level scenic area. The film tells the story of a professor who has long studied the culture of the Grand Canal in a fantasy dream and met a canal boatman who claimed to be in the Jiajing period. This encounter after 500 years triggered a fascinating collision and story, and vividly interpreted the culture of the flow of water in the canal. This micro-film will be launched simultaneously on major video playback platforms for citizens to browse and watch.
Lei Hai, deputy director of the Tongzhou District Garden and Greening Bureau, said in his speech that the Beijing (Tongzhou) Grand Canal Cultural Tourism Scenic Area, as the first 5A-level cultural tourism scenic area in Tongzhou District, will become another high-quality scenic area in the central and eastern part of Beijing that integrates leisure, vacation, sightseeing, experience and shopping. It will also become the main carrier for the protection, excavation, display, utilization and revitalization of canal culture in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
Xi Xuelian, deputy director of the Publicity Department of Tongzhou District Committee, said in the micro-film promotion that the winding thousand-year-old Grand Canal is a shining cultural name card of Beijing's sub-city center. The rich historical and cultural resources along the canal tell the long story of the canal amid the beautiful scenery. The production of the micro-film "Meet the Canal" is an excellent example of using online audio-visual means to help the Grand Canal scenic area cultural excavation and publicity and promotion. It is a full integration of canal culture and audio-visual communication methods, which can make the scenic area brand more story-telling and the sub-city center city image communication more diversified.
Experts and scholars were also invited to discuss topics such as "Grand Canal boutique tour routes", "The beauty of the canal in different seasons", "Canal culture promotion", "The application of new technologies such as VR in the cultural and tourism experience of scenic spots", "Canal IP and cultural and creative development", etc., so that the audience can have a deeper understanding of the scenic spot creation process and future cultural and tourism prospects.
