The closing ceremony of the Youth Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence Summer Camp was held at Beijing No. 101 Middle School on August 8. This summer camp is a new platform for exploring the practice of "cultivating innovative talents through integration of college and middle school", and actively explores a new model for cultivating top innovative talents in the fields of mathematics and artificial intelligence. During the 11-day study, 127 middle school students from more than 20 schools in and outside Beijing gathered in Beijing to embark on a wonderful journey of exploring artificial intelligence.
The summer camp courses include both online and offline parts. In the early stage, Beijing Youth Innovation Academy and Tsinghua University Qiuzhen Academy coordinated and cooperated to jointly discuss online courses, and organized teachers from Beijing's first batch of top innovative talent training bases to open 10 online transition courses for two weeks for the campers to lay a solid foundation in advance. "We encourage students to learn more cutting-edge modern mathematics knowledge, and then expand to the study or research of artificial intelligence that they are interested in." Zhou Yuan, the person in charge of the summer camp course and associate professor of the Qiu Chengtong Mathematical Science Center of Tsinghua University, introduced that offline courses include an introduction to artificial intelligence, basic machine learning models and their mathematical theories, etc. The course adopts a teaching mode that combines mathematical theory learning with practical projects, so that students can understand the relationship between mathematics and artificial intelligence and improve their innovation ability and scientific research literacy.
