Vietnam establishes national semiconductor industry development steering committee

According to the Economic and Commercial Department of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency reported on August 9 that Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recently issued Government Decree No. 791/QĐ-TTg on the establishment of the National Semiconductor Industry Development Steering Committee.

According to the government order, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is the chairman of the Steering Committee, and the vice chairmen are the Minister of Planning and Investment (Executive Vice Chair) and the Minister of Information and Communications. Members include: Director of the Government Office, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Education and Training, Science and Technology, Industry and Trade, Finance, Justice, Natural Resources and Environment, and Transport.

The main tasks and functions of the Steering Committee include helping the Prime Minister and the government to study, guide and cooperate in solving important and cross-departmental issues related to promoting the development of Vietnam's semiconductor industry; studying, consulting and suggesting directions and solutions to promote the development of Vietnam's semiconductor industry; guiding the cooperation among various departments, government agencies, relevant agencies and organizations to effectively promote the development of Vietnam's semiconductor industry.

The Steering Committee operates on a part-time basis, and each member performs his or her authority and duties in accordance with the organization and operation system of the Steering Committee. The Director of the Steering Committee uses the seal of the Prime Minister, and the Deputy Directors and members of the Steering Committee use the seals of their competent departments. The Ministry of Planning and Investment is the chairman unit of the Steering Committee and uses existing institutions to perform the tasks of the Steering Committee.
