Xinhua News Agency, Paris, August 8 (Reporters Xie Lin and Zhang Zhaoqing) The modern pentathlon of the Paris Olympics kicked off on the 8th. The first day was a fencing round-robin competition, and the three Chinese athletes performed normally.
There are 36 male and female contestants in the fencing competition, which adopts a single round-robin system. The contestants use epees, and each contestant fights one-on-one with 35 other contestants. The winner is determined by one sword within 1 minute, and the points are accumulated according to the number of wins and losses. The fencing competition will not eliminate contestants, and their scores will be combined with the fencing arena scores to form the individual fencing scores.
