From news to insights, understand all aspects of society between the lines.

With opinions and ideas, the collision of wisdom grasps the pulse of the times.

Let us read together and be trendy.

The guest of this episode is Xu Yaping, world champion in canoeing, current deputy director of the China Water Sports Development Center of Zhejiang University, and associate professor of Zhejiang University.

"1 minute 39 seconds 48!"

As the red and yellow kayak crossed the finish line, Zhejiang young athlete Ji Bowen and his partner Liu Hao couldn't help but shout out loud to express their endless joy.

In the still water canoeing event, Ji Bowen can be considered a young talent - he won the World Youth Championship at the age of 20 and became the world champion at the age of 21.

Anji boy Ji Bowen took over the baton from Meng Guanliang and said, "I hope I can also be recorded in history."

Xu Yaping, world champion in canoeing, deputy director of the China Water Sports Development Center of Zhejiang University, and associate professor of Zhejiang University:

Ji Bowen’s victory has special meaning to me because I am also a canoeist and he is also my fellow villager from Anji. I wanted to express my warmest congratulations to him as soon as possible!

Ji Bowen and I are 20 years apart in age, and there are many outstanding athletes between us, such as his first coach Sha Sheng. Zhejiang canoeists have been passing on the baton from generation to generation, and it is really exciting to receive the honor again today.

Some people say that I am his role model. I think I am just a pioneer or a predecessor. What really planted the seed of his canoeing championship was the environment in Anji that has always attached great importance to sports. I often go back to give educational speeches to primary and secondary school students. These publicity invisibly planted the seeds of love for sports in the children of Anji.

I think there are three key factors that really made Ji Bowen successful: one is the training system, that is, the training of Anji Sports School for Children and excellent coaches like Sha Sheng, Qiu Sairong and Lei Wenbin, who are very important people on his road to success; the second is the encouragement from excellent predecessors like Meng Guanliang; and the third is his teammates, who encourage each other to grow.

In fact, kayaking is divided into two types: kayaking and rowing. The kayaker is paddled while sitting and moving forward to both sides; the rower is paddled while kneeling and moving forward to one side. The difficulty coefficient of rowing is the highest among all water sports, and the core stability is also the highest requirement. There is a saying among water athletes: "Kayaking is hard, rowing is tiring, and rowing is a living hell." Although this saying is a joke in the circle, it is enough to reflect the hard work of rowing training. Ji Bowen made unremitting efforts to win the championship.

Huzhou Sports Bureau is one of the earliest and few units in my country that dares to take the lead in developing folk sports. Huzhou is also one of the first cities in the country to establish a water sports association. While developing competitive sports, Huzhou promotes the common development of national sports and water sports events. In terms of folk events, it has also launched many outdoor "green water and green mountains" cultural and tourism event combination products. In terms of water sports, Huzhou has always been at the forefront of the country.

We hope that the good news of Ji Bowen's victory will further promote the development of outdoor sports and water sports in Huzhou and push the local cultural tourism industry to a new peak. At the same time, we also hope that Zhejiang can form a more complete canoeing system and produce more and better canoeists.
