Breaking dance is on the stage of the Summer Olympics for the first time. At the Place de la Concorde in the heart of Paris, France, 16 male and female contestants from 15 countries and regions will compete in a creative and artistic way. The event will produce two gold medals for men and women. The Chinese sports delegation has three athletes participating in this event, namely male contestant Qi Xiangyu, and two female contestants Liu Qingyi and Zeng Yingying.

Breakdancing is a type of street dance that is based on individual style. Participants are called B-Boys and B-Girls. The Paris Olympics adopts a one-on-one duel format, and the gold medalist is finally decided through round-robin, quarter-finals, and semi-finals. Each duel consists of three rounds, and two contestants take turns to perform in each round. Each person has one minute to show their skills. The judges score the contestants based on their understanding of musicality, display of expressiveness, original creation, technical connection and completion. The contestants must complete their own combination of movements in the competition, and at the same time, they need to compete with the rhythm of the DJ's random music to win the judges' votes.
