Beijing Fresh Corn Festival Yanqing Branch opens, 141 fresh corn varieties on display

On August 10, the 2024 Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Fresh Corn Industry Development Conference and the 10th Beijing Fresh Corn Festival Yanqing Branch opened. 141 domestically cultivated fresh corn varieties were displayed on site, and the selection of fresh corn varieties also attracted a lot of attention. Jiuxian Town Fresh Corn Tourism Season opened simultaneously and will last until the end of September.
The conference was themed "Jiuxian Corn, Leading the Fresh Future", and displayed 141 domestically cultivated fresh corn varieties, including Nongke Nuo 323, Jing Zi Nuo 519, Feihua, Jinguan 597, Huanai 782, etc. These varieties thrived in the core demonstration area of the Jiuxian Town Modern Agricultural Industrial Park and the Zhongshun Planting Professional Cooperative in Gengjiaying Village, enriching the agricultural germplasm resources of Yanqing District and injecting vitality into the fresh corn industry in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and even the whole country.
At the scene, a unique "30 Best" fresh corn variety selection activity attracted a lot of attention. The jury, composed of 9 fresh corn variety evaluation experts and 3 citizen representatives, conducted field evaluation and indoor tasting, comprehensively considered multiple dimensions such as color, flavor, stickiness, and sweetness, and finally selected the "Top 10" varieties of sweet corn, sticky corn, and sweet sticky corn that are most suitable for local growth in Yanqing District.
During the fresh corn tourism season, Jiuxian Town also launched a corn banquet using fresh corn as raw material, and special new products such as peach cakes, oven fruits, moon cakes, and bean paste pies developed and launched by the warm bakery, as well as special homestays, allowing tourists to taste delicious food and stay comfortably.
