According to Brazilian media reports, the ATR72-500 turboprop passenger plane was flying from Cascavel in southern Paraná state to Guarulhos International Airport in Sao Paulo that day, and crashed in Vinhedo, about 80 kilometers from Sao Paulo in the afternoon. The crashed passenger plane damaged a house on the ground, but caused no casualties on the ground.

According to the list of victims released by Walpass Airlines, there were 57 passengers and 4 crew members on board, with no Chinese citizens. Walpass Airlines said earlier that day that there were 62 people on board the plane, including 4 crew members.
