Liquor is the decisive weapon for Luliang's transformation and development, and also the bright name card of Luliang's characteristic industries. With the success of Fenjiu in the national market, the popularity of the core production areas of light-fragrance liquor has been rising year by year. Today, Luliang's liquor production capacity has reached 400,000 tons and its output has reached 350,000 tons, accounting for a quarter of China's light-fragrance liquor.

The Luliang City's conference to promote the creation of a 100 billion-level liquor industry was held on July 31, with representatives from 99 liquor companies and 12 packaging companies attending. The liquor industry has become an important pillar of Luliang's economic development and a decisive weapon for the city to forge new development advantages.

With a 1,500-year history of fame, an 800-year history of distillation, and a 300-year history of branding, Lvliang has the world's largest light-fragrance liquor production base and is one of the world's top ten spirits producing areas. The city is making efforts to build a 100 billion-level liquor industry, setting up the province's only development zone with liquor as the leading industry, and making Xinghua Village one of the first 10 key specialized towns in the province; it has issued a number of policies, including the implementation opinions on the integrated development of liquor, culture and tourism, and 9 measures to support the high-quality development of the liquor industry, to promote the continuous growth of the liquor industry.

From 2016 to the present, the number of Luliang liquor production enterprises has increased from 72 to 198, the output has increased from 80,000 kiloliters to 400,000 kiloliters, the number of large-scale enterprises has increased from 8 to 25, and the operating income has increased from 10 billion yuan to 50 billion yuan; by the end of 2023, the added value of the liquor industry and tax revenue will account for about one-eighth of Luliang’s total; in the first half of 2024, the liquor industry will account for nearly 9% of GDP, and the output of large-scale liquor enterprises will achieve a high growth of 27.9%.
