The smart manufacturing industrial park and circular economy industrial park that have sprung up have attracted many "specialized, sophisticated and innovative" enterprises to invest and settle down.

"Old fuel forklifts that used to be destined for garbage dumps and scrapyards have been given a new lease of life here," said Chen Jiahua, factory manager of Hubei Zhongli Machinery Co., Ltd. "After cutting, machining, welding, painting, and assembly, a piece of steel plate goes in and a complete vehicle goes out." Currently, smart manufacturing and circular economy in Laohekou City, Hubei Province are becoming new drivers of development.
With the support of intelligent operation, production efficiency has been greatly improved. In the production base, unmanned portal frame and frame automatic welding machine production lines have replaced traditional manual welding technology; the automated powder spraying line improves quality while recycling powder; and the intelligent handling robot efficiently distributes materials and speeds up the flow of materials.
On the production line, old fuel forklifts are transformed into almost new electric forklifts, and workers are testing the finished vehicles one by one. This kind of "remanufacturing" of electric forklift production is a new exploration of the production base.
Chen Jiahua introduced that by utilizing the technical advantages accumulated in the field of electric material handling, the base explored the business of exchanging old fuel forklifts for new ones. Today, "remanufactured" electric forklifts have gradually entered the market.
Laohekou is now actively promoting the development of intelligent manufacturing and circular economy. In the Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park of Laohekou High-tech Zone, the fields of new energy electric vehicle assembly and industrial robots have been developed and cultivated, and a modern industrial system with Laohekou's unique advantages has been gradually established.
At present, intelligence and greening have become the "keywords" for Laohekou's industrial economic development. Zhang Wei, deputy secretary of the Party Working Committee and deputy director of the Management Committee of Laohekou High-tech Park, said that the industrial system of "recycling and utilization - high-quality material supply - high-end equipment manufacturing - intelligent solution provision" will be improved to accelerate the construction of a mutually complementary, win-win and mutually beneficial development pattern in which the circular economy industry and the intelligent manufacturing industry provide raw materials to each other, and achieve a "1+1>2" synergistic effect.
