[Global Network reporter Li Ziyu] According to reports from the Hungarian Budapest Times and Russia's TASS, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Peter Szijjártó criticized the European Union on the 7th, saying that the "Brussels lie factory" continued to operate despite "constant failures." He also said that the "attacks" against Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's "peace mission" to Ukraine, Russia and other countries had "failed."
The report said Szijjártó posted on social media platform Facebook that the productivity of the "Brussels Lie Factory" had not been hampered by facts or the traditionally dull summer, "and apparently, constant glitches will not hinder its work."
According to the report, Szijjártó said that the "Brussels lie factory" initially attacked Hungary's "peace mission" after Orban visited Ukraine, Russia and other countries. "Brussels was also exposed on the issue of the Ukrainian order to ban oil transit, resulting in two EU member states, including Hungary, facing serious energy supply threats." He said that after the above "two failures", EU officials "fabricated another lie", claiming that Hungary allowed Russian and Belarusian spies to enter the EU. He added, "We have clearly explained to the representatives of the Baltic countries why this is a blatant lie, but they don't seem to care about the facts, and Manfred Weber (leader of the European People's Party group in the European Parliament) doesn't care either."
The report mentioned that Szijjártó also accused Weber of "Hungophobia", saying he was waiting to see what ideas the EU leadership, the Baltic countries or Weber would come up with "for the fourth time after the third lie has failed."
According to Xinhua News Agency, Hungary took over the rotating presidency of the European Union on July 1, and Prime Minister Orban immediately launched a "peace mission" to visit Ukraine, Russia and other countries to mediate the Ukrainian crisis, which caused divisions within the EU. On July 22, the EU announced that the informal EU foreign ministers' and defense ministers' meeting originally scheduled to be held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, at the end of August will be held in Brussels, the capital of Belgium.
Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Peter Szijjártó said this was a "completely childish" act of revenge. He criticized that Hungary's recent "peace mission" aimed at mediating the Ukrainian crisis was "hysterically attacked" by the EU, and that these ridicules and attacks ignored reality. He also said that the EU's Ukraine strategy has failed miserably in the past two and a half years and is getting further and further away from peace. On the issue of Ukraine, European politicians should not "bury their heads in the sand" but should change their approach and reopen diplomatic channels.
