Following the fall of Zhoukou Mayor Ji Jianjun on August 8, another senior official at the department level in Henan was brought down.

On the morning of August 9, the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission released a message citing the Henan Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision: Song Dianyu, chairman of the Henan Provincial People’s Congress Supervision and Judicial Committee, is suspected of serious violations of discipline and laws, and is currently undergoing disciplinary review and supervisory investigation by the Henan Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision.

Public information shows that Song Dianyu, male, Han nationality, was born in February 1963 in Zhengyang, Henan Province. He has a university degree and a master's degree in economics. He joined the Communist Party of China in May 1986 and started working in August 1984.

Song Dianyu has worked in Henan Province for a long time. He has served as member of the Standing Committee of the Luoyang Municipal Party Committee and deputy mayor, director of the Management Committee of the Urban-Rural Integration Demonstration Zone of Luoyang City, Henan Province (at the municipal and departmental level) and deputy secretary of the Party Working Committee, deputy secretary and mayor of Puyang Municipal Party Committee, secretary of Puyang Municipal Party Committee, and secretary and director of the Party Leadership Group of Henan Provincial Market Supervision Administration.

In January 2023, Song Dianyu resigned as director of the Henan Provincial Administration for Market Regulation and joined the Standing Committee of the Henan Provincial People's Congress.

Song Dianyu served as mayor and party secretary of Puyang for many years. In January this year, Chen Xiaohua, former member of the party group and deputy mayor of Puyang Municipal People's Government, was dismissed.
