Recently, a heartwarming scene occurred in Cheniandian Hutong, Andingmen Street: an 80-year-old man fainted on the street due to heatstroke while out. Passing enthusiastic residents and community workers extended a helping hand and helped the old man out of danger.
The staff of the Party and Mass Service Center inquired about the elderly’s physical condition"Come and help! An old man has fainted here!" On July 26, the weather was extremely hot and humid. An old man went out to buy things. When he walked near the Cheniandian Party and Mass Service Center, he fainted due to heatstroke. A passerby found him and notified the staff in the service center in time. Everyone hurriedly helped the old man to rest in the service center. After confirming with the old man that there was no need to call an ambulance, the staff decided to observe the old man's condition first and brought him drinking water. It was not until the old man's condition slowly recovered that we learned through the conversation that the old man was a resident of Baochao Community. After the old man's symptoms were significantly relieved and his physical condition was stable, the center staff asked the old man if he needed further medical examination; after obtaining the old man's consent, they notified the Baochao Community staff to take the old man home for recuperation.
Community workers escorted the elderly homeAfter receiving the information, the staff of Baochao Community arrived at the scene immediately and confirmed that the fainted old man was Grandpa Hu, who was in his 80s from Jingtu Hutong. It turned out that Grandpa Hu had a sudden heat stroke due to the hot weather when he went out alone in the afternoon and fainted on the roadside. Considering that Grandpa Hu's wife was unable to move and his children lived far away, a social worker quickly returned to the community, pushed a wheelchair, and together with other social workers, escorted the old man safely home.
When Grandpa Hu's wife saw him return safely, she was so excited that tears welled up in her eyes. She held the social worker's hand tightly and thanked him repeatedly: "Fortunately, you helped in time, otherwise the consequences would be really unimaginable! Thank you so much!" In response to the gratitude of the family members, Liu Jia, secretary of the Baochao Community Party Committee, said that this is just the responsibility and obligation of community workers. At the same time, the community also reminded that the weather is hot in the summer, and the elderly should try to avoid outdoor activities during high temperatures, and it is best to have family members accompany them when going out.
