More and more local government procurement websites have given Tesla the green light.
On August 6, according to the website of "Fujian Provincial Government Procurement Online Supermarket", a Tesla Model Y has been included in the government procurement list, and the official guide price of this model is 249,900 yuan. However, later that day, a reporter from The Paper checked the website of "Fujian Provincial Government Procurement Online Supermarket" and found that the information related to Tesla Model Y had been deleted from the website.
On August 7, a reporter from The Paper called the official customer service hotline of the Fujian Provincial Government Procurement Online Supermarket. The relevant staff said that the product was temporarily removed because the information provided by Tesla was incomplete and Tesla would supplement the information later. The decision on whether the product will be included in the purchasing list will be made based on the information provided by Tesla.
Previously, Tesla Model Y has been shortlisted in the Jiangsu Provincial Government’s vehicle procurement catalog. Several state-owned enterprises, including Shanghai Chengtou Xinggang Group and Lingang Investment Holding Group, have also announced the purchase of a batch of Tesla Model Y vehicles as corporate functional vehicles.
On July 4, the Jiangsu Government Procurement Network disclosed the "Announcement on the Shortlisted Participants for the 2024-2025 New Energy Vehicle Framework Agreement Procurement for Party and Government Organs, Institutions and Group Organizations in Jiangsu Province (III)", which showed that Tesla Model Y was included in the Jiangsu Provincial Government's new energy vehicle procurement catalog.
A reporter from The Paper confirmed with Tesla that this is the first time that Tesla cars have entered the government procurement catalog.
Prior to this, several state-owned enterprises located in Lingang New Area, including Chengtou Xinggang Group and Lingang Investment Holding Group, had also taken the lead in purchasing a batch of Tesla Model Y vehicles as corporate functional vehicles. The Lingang New Area Investment Promotion Service Center stated that the optimization of the business environment will treat domestic and foreign capital equally, which is also a positive response of the Lingang New Area to implement equal treatment of domestic and foreign enterprises in government procurement activities.
Data from the China Passenger Car Association and Tesla showed that Tesla's Shanghai Super Factory delivered 74,100 vehicles in July, a year-on-year increase of 15%; domestic sales reached 46,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 47%.
In recent months, Tesla's domestic sales have shown an upward trend. According to the China Passenger Car Association, Tesla's domestic sales in June were 59,000 vehicles, a 7% increase from the previous month. Previously, Tesla's domestic sales in May reached 55,000 vehicles, a 77% increase from the previous month. In the second quarter of this year, Tesla's total domestic sales increased by 10.2% from the previous month.
