Cailianshe News, August 7 (Editor: Zhou Ziyi)Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, said he will be interviewed by Elon Musk on Monday evening (August 12) local time. Musk's companies include Tesla, SpaceX, and social media X.

Trump posted on his own social media platform Truth Social, "I will be having a big conversation with Elon Musk on Monday night - details to follow!"

It is not yet clear where the interview will take place.

According to known information, in May this year, there was news that Musk's social media company Platform X planned to hold a live video conference with former President Trump before the US election. Musk then forwarded the news and replied that "this will be very interesting", suggesting that Trump might live broadcast on Platform X.

For many years, Trump had been a top user of Twitter (now renamed Platform X) until the platform announced in 2021 that it would ban his account because he incited his supporters to riot at the U.S. Capitol.

The ban was lifted after Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion. On August 24 last year, Trump logged back into his Twitter account after more than two and a half years, and posted a photo of himself, declaring that he would "never surrender."

Although Platform X is now open to Trump, he still chooses to stay on Truth Social on a daily basis. Truth Social is owned by Trump Media, a publicly traded company, in which the former president is the majority shareholder.

Therefore, if the conversation that Trump announced is broadcast live on Platform X, it will mean that Trump will appear on Platform X again after a year.

Musk endorses Trump

Last month, Trump was shot at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The bullet pierced his right ear but did not kill him.

About half an hour after the event, Musk announced his support for Trump's candidacy, breaking with the tradition of social media platform leaders declaring neutrality.

Musk also created and funded a political action committee to support Trump's campaign, called America PAC. It is reported that Musk will also make a large donation to Trump personally. Although the amount is not as much as the rumored "US$45 million per month", it is enough to make Trump always think about it, and the amount should not be small.

In response to Musk's "enthusiasm", Trump frequently mentioned Musk as a key ally during the campaign.

Trump told a crowd at a campaign rally in Georgia last weekend:, because "Elon supported me so strongly that I had no choice."

However, in recent days, the America PAC created by Musk has attracted the attention of the North Carolina Attorney General's Office and the Michigan Secretary of State.

Last Sunday (August 4), a spokesperson for the Michigan Secretary of State's Office said in a statement that the America PAC Committee is under investigation in Michigan because its collection of voter information may have violated state law.

The North Carolina Elections Commission said on Monday it had launched an investigation into America PAC after receiving complaints that the organization collected personal data of website users and failed to help users register to vote as promised.
