Wuhan, August 7 (Chinanews.com) - China Three Gorges Corporation announced on the evening of August 6 that the world's largest clean energy corridor on the main stream of the Yangtze River has been guaranteed to supply at its peak, with a peak output of more than 70 million kilowatts on July 31, a record high. The output of the Baihetan Hydropower Station reached 16 million kilowatts, achieving full power generation for the first time since it was put into operation.
Recently, high temperature weather has developed rapidly in many parts of my country, and electricity demand has continued to rise. Under the unified dispatch of the State Grid and the China Southern Power Grid, the Yangtze River Power of the Three Gorges Group has continued to increase the power supply of the world's largest clean energy corridor while ensuring flood control safety, giving full play to the role of the backbone power source points of cascade power stations and their strong peak capacity, effectively alleviating the power supply tension in the power consumption areas.

The world's largest clean energy corridor consists of six cascade hydropower stations, including Wudongde, Baihetan, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, Three Gorges and Gezhouba, arranged from top to bottom along the mainstream of the Yangtze River, and will be fully operational in December 2022. This corridor spans more than 1,800 kilometers, with a water level drop of more than 900 meters and a total installed capacity of 71.695 million kilowatts, equivalent to the installed capacity of three Three Gorges power stations.
At present, my country is in a critical period of flood prevention and summer peak season. The head of Yangtze Power of the Three Gorges Group said that they will strictly follow the dispatching instructions of the State Flood Control Headquarters and the Yangtze River Flood Control Headquarters and the relevant work arrangements of the Ministry of Water Resources, comprehensively consider the flood control safety situation upstream and downstream, continue to strengthen hydrological and meteorological forecasting, carry out in-depth joint optimization and dispatching of cascade reservoirs, strengthen the inspection of cascade power stations and the operation and maintenance management of units, and make every effort to ensure the flood control safety of the Yangtze River Basin and national energy security.
