This summer is very "hot", but what is even hotter is the figure of young students going deep into the fields to carry out summer social practice. This summer, 21 "Hundreds of Millions of Projects" youth commandos and more than 300 teachers and students from Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University went to Renhua County, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province, focusing on rural cultural tourism development, green Guangdong, legal publicity, caring for left-behind children, cultural creativity and other fields, giving full play to the advantages of "technology + normal education", closely combining with local needs, and injecting youthful momentum into the high-quality development of Renhua County.
New media empowerment injects new vitality into rural revitalization
Since pairing up with Renhua County in the 2023 "High-quality Development Project for Hundred Counties, Thousands of Towns and Tens of Thousands of Villages", Guangdong University of Technology and Normal University has taken "what the county needs and what universities can do" as its principle, fully leveraging the school's "technology + teacher education" advantages, and insisting on being goal-oriented and result-oriented. It has established a "Double Hundred Action" working group headed by the school's party committee secretary and president. It has systematically integrated resources, identified the points of cooperation and co-construction, established a working mechanism, and continuously enhanced the pertinence and effectiveness of cooperation, achieving a number of phased results in the fields of basic public services, grassroots talent training, urban and rural planning and construction, and other fields.
In Xinlong Village, the school's Siyuan Three-Going-to-the-Countryside Practice Group took "Continuing the Hakka Culture and Promoting the Integration of Agriculture, Culture and Tourism through Live Broadcasting" as the main line, and carried out activities such as "Live Broadcasting + Courtyard Economy Promotion" and "Live Broadcasting + Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance" in the local area. In the live broadcast room, the team introduced in detail the development experience of the courtyard economy, creatively presented the production techniques of gray water glutinous rice cakes and oil tea and the cultural origins behind them, and used the new media matrix such as WeChat public accounts and video accounts to deepen the publicity efforts, attracting tourists to Xinlong Village to check in the courtyard and experience the food. The live broadcast activity received more than 400,000 likes.
The Youth Dream Building Commando went deep into Renhua Shitang Town to help increase the sales of Shitang Town's Duihua Rice Wine. The team conducted a full range of video shooting and graphic design for the local specialty product, Duihua Rice Wine, with exquisite visual presentation and vivid video content, showing the charm of Duihua Rice Wine, relying on innovative publicity strategies and diversified communication paths to achieve a win-win situation of economic and social benefits. Yiqingyun's three rural practice groups also joined the Zhoutian e-commerce town's Nai Li Opening Festival. Team members spoke as representatives of Internet celebrities and actively participated in the e-commerce live broadcast promotion activities and traceability research of Pingfu Nai Li, showing the green ecological agricultural practices of Nai Li Garden to the majority of netizens, and boosting its sales to more than 10,000 boxes.
"The school will use its academic resources to improve the packaging design of agricultural products and expand the sales of agricultural products through live streaming and other channels," said Dai Qingyun, president of Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University. "Consumption assistance can not only expand the sales of agricultural products in the 'Double Hundred Action' and rural revitalization assistance points, but also increase farmers' income."
Cultural support contributes to the beautiful countryside
Produced 3 theme promotional videos, edited and published more than 10 original promotional tweets, and received more than 100,000 views in total... This summer, the Tuanxin service team of Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University focused on rural leisure tourism and red study activities in Shitang Town, Renhua County, and helped to upgrade the quality of local major cultural and tourism attractions and bases such as "Shuangfengzhai" and "Ant Commune"; with Shitang Ancient Village as the theme, completed the check-in background wall, the large lawn of the parent-child garden, the lotus platform installation art, the straw farm viewing booth and other four landscape renovations and 100m^2 of wall painting.
Based on local historical materials, the "Wildfire Film" commando and the "Lingnan Remembering Gratitude" commando went deep into the ancient buildings such as the ancestral temple and ancestral hall of En Village, and conducted in-depth site surveys focusing on the multi-dimensional achievements of rural revitalization in the En Village area. They shot the short dramas "Exploring the Millennium Ancient Village - En Village" and "Time Travel: I am an Experience Officer in En Village" and a series of special promotional videos "Roaming the Ancient En Village", reflecting the profound historical and cultural charm of the ancient village. The current number of views on all platforms has exceeded 90,000 times and the number of reposts is close to 10,000 times.
In addition to improving the local living environment and leaving precious historical memories for the local area, Guangdong Technical Normal University also gives full play to its normal characteristics and brings fresh and vivid courses to local children. In response to the common psychological problems of left-behind children in local villages, the school's Xinguang Qihang Practice Group has opened "emotion management" and "career planning" themed mental health education classes, and through one-on-one psychological counseling, sand table experience, and OH card experience series activities, it helps rural children improve their psychological quality and enhance their psychological resilience, injects a steady stream of Guangdong Normal University youth power into the rural youth mental health service cause, and jointly escorts the healthy growth of children.
The Yuanfan Commando team took the theme of "Intangible Cultural Heritage Contains Law, and Bamboo Walks Together" to combine the inheritance of Renhua bamboo strips with the popularization of law, bringing a unique popularization of law classroom to Renhua primary school students. In order to enhance the interest of primary school students in legal knowledge, the team innovated the teaching form, arranged small legal dramas, and integrated "legal language" into situational dramas for popularization of law education. The team also held discussions with the Renhua County Justice Bureau and the County Women's Federation, and used professional legal knowledge to continuously promote the legal publicity and grassroots legal services for the protection of minors in Renhua.
The practice in Renhua County is a microcosm of the teachers and students of Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University actively participating in the "Double Hundred Action". The teachers and students went to the countryside, sprinkled their sweat on the land of the motherland, and integrated their wisdom into the front line of the countryside. It is reported that this summer, the school has formed nearly 190 teams with about 4,000 teachers and students to carry out social practice activities in the eastern, western and northern Guangdong. Guided by "what Guangdong Normal University can do and what local development needs", the school actively guides students to receive education, grow talents and make contributions in social practice, and strive to grow into new people of the era who are capable of shouldering the heavy responsibility of national rejuvenation.
