Veterans are everywhere in society. After taking off their military uniforms, they devote themselves to economic and social development in different identities and continue to write wonderful lives. Starting today, Dazhong.com launches a series of special reports on "Veterans Retired but Still Ambitious, Little Light Becomes a Torch in the Peony City" - looking for veteran role models around us. Reporters visit veteran groups such as "soldier branch secretaries", volunteers, and entrepreneurs to record their stories of striving and show their spirit of not giving up their ambitions and not fading after retirement.
The 7th article is released today.
Dazhong.com reporter Zhou Chen and intern Lu Nuo reported from Heze
Heze veteran Guo Liangying was born in 1959. He is a retired traffic policeman from the Mudan District Brigade of the Traffic Police Detachment of the Heze Public Security Bureau. He served in the army for 19 years and the police for 22 years. He has participated in the National Day military parade, the self-defense counterattack reconnaissance operation against Vietnam, and the Yangtze River flood rescue. In 1997, Guo Liangying retired from the army and served in the army to defend his country. After retiring, he became a traffic policeman and continued to serve the people. Now, after retirement, he has established the "Guo Liangying Volunteer Service Team" and has become an advocate of civilized traffic.
In 1978, 19-year-old Guo Liangying became a soldier. He served in the same company as the hero Huang Jiguang. The hero's spirit nurtured and inspired him, and became the inexhaustible driving force for his lifelong dedication. In 1985, Guo Liangying bravely charged on the frontline battlefield and was gloriously wounded. In 1996, Guo Liangying participated in the Yangtze River flood relief and contracted chronic schistosomiasis, which could never be completely cured, but he never delayed his work because of it.
After retiring, Guo Liangying became a policeman. For important events in Heze City every year, such as the Peony Festival and Forest Products Trade Fair, Guo Liangying was always the first to rush forward and the last to withdraw. He spent New Year's Eve on duty for more than 10 consecutive years.
In his 22-year career as a police officer, Guo Liangying has successfully completed 203 security tasks of all kinds, ensuring zero mistakes and errors. He also serves as the chief instructor for the training of traffic police and auxiliary police in Heze City, giving more than 500 classes and training more than 12,000 police officers.
"Retire from the army but never give up your ambition, retire but never fade away, this spirit has always influenced me." Guo Liangying said that in his 22-year career as a traffic policeman, he often found people involved in traffic accidents caused by minor negligence, so he felt it was very necessary to popularize traffic safety knowledge.
After retirement, with the support of all parties, he established the "Guo Liangying Studio", which has now developed into a volunteer service team with more than 470 people from all walks of life.
