On August 6, a reporter from Nandu learned from the Shanghai High People's Court that Li Jiaqi's affiliated company Meiqi (Shanghai) Cosmetics Co., Ltd. was sued by Cosmax (Guangzhou) Cosmetics Co., Ltd. due to a contract dispute. The latter's parent company Cosmax is the production partner of the makeup brand Huaxizi. Nandu previously reported that in September last year, Li Jiaqi and Huaxizi were involved in the "79 yuan eyebrow pencil" incident. Huaxizi officials also publicly apologized and said that they had fully recorded relevant opinions.

Li Jiaqi introduced Huaxizi eyebrow pencil in the live broadcast room.

The court opening announcement on the official website of the Shanghai Higher People's Court shows that the plaintiff in this case is COTY (Guangzhou) Cosmetics Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Guangzhou COTY"), and the defendant is MG (Shanghai) Cosmetics Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "MG Shanghai"). The case is a "contract dispute over undertaking and work" and is being heard by the Second Court of the Free Trade Zone Court of the Pudong New Area People's Court of Shanghai. The trial date is October 14.

Nandu reporter learned that Ningbo Meiqi E-commerce Co., Ltd., a company held by Li Jiaqi, is one of the shareholders of Meiqi Shanghai. COSMAX is a Korean cosmetics OEM company that entered China in 2004 and opened a branch and factory in Guangzhou in 2010, namely the above-mentioned company involved in the case, Guangzhou COSMAX. The company is 100% owned by COSMAX (China) Cosmetics Co., Ltd.

In addition, COSMAX’s client companies in China include brands such as Huaxizi, Perfect Diary, Mao Geping, and Gauze.

It is worth mentioning that Li Jiaqi and Hua Xizi were previously involved in the "79 yuan eyebrow pencil" storm. Nandu previously reported that on September 10, 2023, in the live broadcast room of Li Jiaqi, a top anchor, some netizens complained that the price of Hua Xizi products was getting higher and higher. Li Jiaqi responded, "Don't talk nonsense. Eyebrow pencils have always been 79 yuan. It's difficult for domestic brands. Sometimes you should look for your own reasons. Have your wages increased over the years? Have you worked hard?" This remark quickly sparked heated discussions.

Subsequently, topics such as "How expensive is Huaxizi" and "Huaxizi eyebrow pencil can buy two grams of gold for more than 980 yuan per gram" continued to be hot searches. On September 19 of the same year, Huaxizi officially issued a statement to apologize to the public for occupying public resources. Huaxizi said that its brand R&D center, production factory, and tax payment are all in China, and it is an authentic Chinese brand. "We have fully recorded the relevant opinions, and the team is also comparing, correcting and improving them one by one, adhering to the original intention to bring better products and provide better services to everyone."
