On August 6, local time, Moulay Ould, Secretary General of the Mauritanian Presidential Palace, issued a statement on the formation of a new government in the country. The statement mentioned that Mokhtar Ould Ajayi was appointed as the new Prime Minister, Mohamed Amin was appointed as the Minister of the Interior and Local Development, Hanna Sidi was appointed as the Minister of Defense, Said Ahmed Abou was appointed as the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mohamed Khaled was appointed as the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, and Abdullah Wadia was appointed as the Minister of Health. The statement also announced some other ministerial appointments.
Among them, Marzouq remains the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Mohammed Bey remains the Minister of Justice.
On June 29 this year, Mauritania held a new presidential election, with a total of 7 candidates participating in the competition. On July 1, the Mauritanian Independent Electoral Commission officially announced the results of the presidential election to the outside world, announcing that the incumbent President Ghazwani won re-election with 56.12% support. On August 1, Ghazwani was sworn in and re-elected as the country's president. On August 2, Ghazwani issued a presidential decree appointing Mokhtar Ould Ajayi as the new prime minister and assigning him to form a new government.
