Recently, after review by the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone Intelligent Connected Vehicle and Autonomous Driving Leading Group Working Meeting, Ruqi Travel was approved to carry out Robotaxi road tests throughout the cooperation zone. In other words, soon, Hengqin residents will be able to find these driverless taxis being tested on the streets of Hengqin.

It is reported that Ruqi Travel is a travel platform under GAC Group, which officially started operation in Hengqin in April 2021. According to the "Management Rules for Road Testing and Demonstration Application of Intelligent Connected Vehicles in the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone (Trial)", after completing the relevant road test goals and being reviewed and approved by relevant departments, Ruqi Robotaxi will officially start demonstration operations in the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone, providing safe, efficient and convenient autonomous driving travel services for the general public.

Ruqi Travel has been planning the development and commercialization of Robotaxi since 2021, and has independently developed an open Robotaxi operation technology platform. In October 2022, Ruqi Travel became the world's first travel platform to launch commercial hybrid operations of manned online car-hailing and Robotaxi services.

In April 2023, Ruqi Travel obtained the qualification for demonstration operation of intelligent connected vehicles in Nansha District, Guangzhou, and put its own Robotaxi fleet into demonstration operation, becoming the first travel service platform in China to conduct demonstration operation with a dedicated Robotaxi fleet. In January 2024, Ruqi Travel was approved to carry out Robotaxi manned demonstration application activities in Qianhai District, Nanshan Yuehai District, Bao'an Airport District, Shenzhen Bay and Shenzhen Bay Port in Shenzhen; in the same month, it obtained the Shenzhen Bao'an District Intelligent Connected Vehicle Commercialization Pilot License and was approved to provide commercial Robotaxi services in the district.

At present, Ruqi Robotaxi has provided services in the central urban areas of Guangzhou and Shenzhen, two first-tier cities. In addition to its own Robotaxi, Ruqi Robotaxi operation technology platform has also connected to Robotaxi capacity including GAC Research Institute and Pony.ai. As of December 31, 2023, the platform's Robotaxi capacity reached 281 vehicles, ranking first among domestic travel platforms. Ruqi Robotaxi service has accumulated 20,080 hours of operation, covering 545 stations, and completed 450,699 kilometers of safe trial operation mileage.
