IT Home reported on August 6 that technology media Android Authority published a blog post yesterday (August 5), revealing that Google is developing a new weather application internally, which will be released simultaneously with the Pixel 9 series of mobile phones.

It is reported that the new weather app will replace the existing Pixel Weather (com.google.android.apps.weather) app.It will be available as a pre-installed app on the Pixel 9 series phones and will be rolled out to older Pixel devices later.IT Home attaches the relevant comparison pictures as follows:

home page

The new weather app features a minimalist design with a simple gradient background that stretches from the top of the screen to the bottom and changes color depending on the current weather conditions.

The largest element on the screen is the current temperature text written in bold, with the degree symbol replaced by an icon representing the current weather conditions.

Below the temperature are familiar cards that provide all the information you'd expect from a weather app -- hourly and 10-day forecasts, humidity, sunrise and sunset, wind, air quality index, visibility, UV index, and air pressure.

An interesting new feature is that users can long-press on these cards (except for the hourly forecast) to adjust the position according to their usage preference.

10-day forecast

Clicking into the 10-day forecast opens a similar widget-based UI, but with fewer elements and the cards aren't resizable.

Location Selection

The location selection screen is very simple, but places a greater emphasis on current weather conditions and temperatures than the older design.

Animation

Maybe it's an early beta version, the switching operation does not have any animation.
