As the Pixel 9 series prepares to launch at the Made by Google event on August 13, numerous reports have revealed details and specs of the upcoming models, leaving little to the imagination. While we thought we knew everything there was to know about the hardware before the big reveal, a new leak suggests there are software improvements as well, with the tech giant planning some interesting changes to the Weather app on the next-generation Pixel series.

Google is working on a revamped weather app for the upcoming Pixel 9, Android Authority reports, despite the company making a major overhaul last year. The app will be a part of the current Pixel weather app, but will feature a new design and other major improvements. The weather app will be reserved for the Pixel 9 at first, but will expand to other Pixel devices later.

At first glance, one might think it is similar to the existing weather app as the layout has not changed much, but the cluttered look is gone now. Google has opted for a minimalist design this time, there are no animations and we don’t see the frog (weather frog) anywhere. The new weather app will have a customization option to drag and change items as per your preference. The temperature will be displayed with a larger icon, thus improving its visibility and aesthetics and bringing more focus on the temperature and weather conditions.

The location selection screen has also been redesigned, with information displayed in larger fonts. This makes it easier to get the information you need, and the visuals are more appealing than the previous version. The lack of animations makes it look more subtle overall, but it also loses a bit of its fun.

Google choosing to launch this new weather app would be a nice change, and we'll likely see more about it during the keynote.
