On August 5, the Fortune Global 500 list was released, with the total operating revenue of the companies reaching US$41 trillion, equivalent to one-third of the global GDP, a slight increase of about 0.1% over last year; the threshold for this list (minimum sales revenue) increased from US$30.9 billion to US$32.1 billion. The total net profit of all listed companies increased by 2.3% year-on-year to approximately US$2.97 trillion.

The list shows that a total of 133 Chinese companies are on the list, second only to the 139 companies in the United States. Among them, 128 companies from mainland China (including Hong Kong) and 5 companies from Taiwan are on the list. State Grid Corporation of China, China Petrochemical Corporation, and China National Petroleum Corporation continue to rank in the top ten; Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and China Construction Bank continue to rank in the top ten in terms of profit.

It is worth mentioning that a total of 10 Chinese automobile and auto parts companies entered the 2024 Fortune Global 500.

At the same time, the ranking of large Internet companies has risen overall. Among the five Internet giants, except for Alibaba, which dropped two places, the rankings of JD.com, Tencent and Meituan have all improved, and Pinduoduo has made the list for the first time. (Shanghai Securities News)
