2024 Fortune Global 500 released, 23 Chinese energy companies on the list

Beijing News Beike Finance (Reporter Zhu Yueyi) On August 5, Fortune magazine announced the 2024 World's 500 list. According to statistics from Beike Finance reporters, a total of 23 Chinese energy companies made the list.

There are 133 Chinese companies on the list, of which 128 are from mainland China. According to statistics, the total revenue of the 133 Chinese companies on the list this year will be about 11 trillion US dollars in 2023, with an average sales revenue of about 83 billion US dollars and an average profit of about 3.9 billion US dollars.

The two major power grid companies, State Grid and China Southern Power Grid, continued to be on the list, with State Grid ranking third with a revenue of US$545.9475 billion, the highest ranking for a Chinese company this year. The "Big Three Oil Companies" Sinopec, PetroChina, and CNOOC also continued to be regulars on the list.

Among the central SOEs in energy and power, eight enterprises, namely China Resources, State Energy Investment Corporation, PowerChina, China Huaneng Group, China Energy Engineering, State Power Investment Corporation, China Huadian Corporation, and China Datang Corporation, made the list. In addition, Shandong Energy Group and Jinneng Holding were also included in the list as local energy SOEs.

In the traditional energy field, Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd., Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum (Group) Co., Ltd., China Coal Energy Co., Ltd., CPC Corporation (Taiwan), and Shanxi Coking Coal Group Co., Ltd. are on the list.

In the new energy field, BYD, CATL and Tongwei Group are on the list. Among them, Tongwei Group entered the list for the first time last year and this year it is still the only Chinese company on the list with photovoltaics as its main business.
