Cailianshe News, August 5 (Editor: Huang Junzhi)Former Virginia Republican Rep. Denver Riggleman publicly endorsed Harris on Sunday, warning that returning former President Trump to the White House would endanger American citizens and cause global chaos.

Previously, Harris' campaign team launched the "Republicans for Harris" initiative, and Riggleman joined it.

“I’m here. Yes,” he posted on X. Attached to the post was a press release from the initiative, which included a list of supporters.

Riggleman pointed to the events of January 6, 2021, when a mob of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol, to explain his support for the initiative. He was a staunch supporter of Trump in two separate campaigns but “broke ranks” with the former president on January 6 of that year.

"I have seen the data on J6. Trump and his diehards are dangerous. Those who push J6 will also push the '2025 plan,'" he said. "A second Trump term will endanger American citizens and cause global chaos."

“Sanity should be the bottom line and criminals should be excluded,” he added.

Since Harris' campaign launched the initiative, it has received support from more than 25 prominent Republicans, including former Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, former Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and other Republican lawmakers and governors.

In addition, Trump-era White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham and former Vice President Pence's former national security adviser Olivia Troye also support Harris.

The group is said to be a "campaign within a campaign" and will hold launch events in the battleground states of Arizona, North Carolina and Pennsylvania on Monday.

"Donald Trump's 'Make America Great Again' (MAGA) extremism is toxic to millions of Republicans. They no longer believe that Trump's party represents their values and will vote against him again in November," Austin Weatherford, Harris' national Republican outreach director, said in a statement.
