In order to enhance the network supply capacity in border areas, Yunnan Mobile conscientiously implemented the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's "Broadband Border" and "Signal Upgrade" special actions, implemented the "Digital Border" action plan, steadily and orderly promoted the improvement of network capacity in border areas, and consolidated the digital foundation for rural revitalization. So far, 25 border counties (cities) and township government seats in Yunnan Province have achieved continuous 4G and 5G coverage, and the 4G/5G coverage rate of all administrative villages along the border has reached 100%.

Walking into the Bajiaoban group of Chengjiao Village, Hekou Town, Hekou Yao Autonomous County, Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, you can see yellow houses hidden among the green mountains, and the infrastructure such as broadband network and sewage treatment are brand new and complete. Next to the infinity pool at the entrance of the village, many tourists are checking in and taking photos with their mobile phones.

Due to its remote location, the Bajiaoban Group once faced development difficulties. With the start of construction of the Yunnan Modern Border Happy Village project, a special scenic spot has been built here. Since Hekou Mobile opened a 5G base station for the village last year, based on the continuous optimization and upgrading of mobile network quality, the beautiful scenery that was once hidden in the mountains and unknown to anyone has been shared by more and more people through live broadcasts, WeChat Moments, etc. Today, the Bajiaoban Group has become a new "check-in place" for tourism on the China-Vietnam border. In Yunnan, there are many remote villages like this that have been revitalized by the Internet.

Yunnan's border areas are characterized by high mountains and deep valleys, vast land, sparse population, and complex environment. Wireless network coverage is difficult and network construction costs are high. In response to this problem, Yunnan Mobile has carried out a series of low-cost construction innovation practices. For different coverage scenarios, it has innovatively used power distribution stations, omnidirectional antenna stations, split stations and other construction solutions to achieve high-efficiency and low-cost coverage of 5G networks. For example, for rural areas with high population density, border management agencies and border trade areas, Yunnan Mobile has accelerated the deployment of 5G networks and continuously improved network coverage capabilities in border areas.

Lincang Mobile actively carried out basic network construction, innovated operation and maintenance service models, and achieved the goals of the "Broadband Frontier" action phase (2025) ahead of schedule. Lincang Mobile has invested a total of about 1 billion yuan in the construction of basic networks in border areas, and has built a total of 3,132 base stations in the three border counties, including 960 5G base stations and 2,172 4G base stations; 303,600 broadband ports have been built, including 260,000 gigabit ports. As of December 2023, Lincang Mobile has achieved 5G and gigabit optical network access in the county towns, township government seats, and administrative villages in the three border counties, and 100% broadband network access in rural population areas with more than 20 households, border management and trade agencies, and mobile network coverage has been basically achieved along the national and provincial roads along the border.

Lincang Mobile continuously improves network quality through the coordinated development of 4G/5G networks. For natural villages with more than 20 households and national roads, provincial roads, and expressways, full use is made of 5G 700M+4G 900M multi-mode base station equipment for planning and deployment; for natural villages with less than 20 households, full use is made of mature 4G equipment to improve network coverage. At the same time, network quality evaluation and monitoring analysis are carried out through MDT, OTT, MR, IDS, drive test analysis and other platforms to ensure customer service access experience.

The expansion of network coverage and the improvement of quality are making the production and life of people in border areas more convenient. The construction of smart ports makes border trade and customs clearance more efficient.
