IT Home reported on August 4 that a company called Gamgee recently launched a fall detection system for the elderly based on Wi-Fi and artificial intelligence. The system does not require wearing any wearable devices or installing cameras.Just by analyzing wireless signals, it can accurately detect whether the elderly have fallen and immediately send a notification to family members or caregivers.

This innovative technology can not only effectively prevent the serious consequences of falls caused by the elderly, but also provide valuable reference for the health management of the elderly by analyzing their daily activity patterns. It is reported that the system has a very low false alarm rate.

To ensure the normal operation of the system, Gamgee also provides a set of high-performance Wi-Fi 6 routers and recommends users to use mesh networking to cover the entire indoor space and even outdoor areas. The system setup process is simple and easy to understand, and users can easily complete it through the supporting application.

Gamgee is currently crowdfunding on the Indiegogo platform to raise funds to bring the product to market. A fall detection kit that includes three Wi-Fi 6 routers and two years of free app subscription costs $320 (IT Home Note: Currently about RMB 2,299).

In addition to fall detection, Gamgee has also launched a Wi-Fi home alarm system based on the same technology. The system can distinguish between the activities of family members and strangers, improving home security while reducing false alarms. The system can also intelligently turn on and off the alarm function based on the family members' home situation.

Gamgee said it plans to integrate the system with other Wi-Fi-enabled home devices in the future to create a fully automated smart home environment.
