Apple's first foldable device may not meet the previously expected 2025 mass production timeline, according to new comments from Haitong analyst Jeff Pu.

In a note to investors seen by MacRumors, Pu said he continues to expect products like the iPhone 17 and Apple Intelligence to drive increased product strength for Apple, but that this comes amid some "delays" with Apple's foldable iPad.

In a May report, he said that as more and more evidence of the existence of foldable devices in Apple's supply chain, Apple's first foldable devices will be mass-produced in 2025 and 2026. At the time, the analyst said that Apple might release a large-screen foldable iPad or MacBook during this period, and then launch a larger foldable iPhone at the end of 2026.

Pu had said that an Apple foldable with a 20.3-inch display would begin production in late 2025, which is earlier than previously expected. However, Pu now believes that Apple will join the foldable market in the second quarter of 2026 due to "durability issues with the display."
