According to South Korean publication Sisa Journal , LG and Samsung have prototyped micro-OLED displays using tandem OLED technology, paving the way for future models of the Vision Pro mixed reality headset to potentially use the technology.

It's unclear if or when LG and Samsung will start mass-producing tandem micro-OLED displays, but the second-generation Vision Pro isn't expected to be released until the end of 2026 at the earliest, so the two companies still have time to commercialize the technology and potentially incorporate it into next-generation models, the report said.

Earlier this year, Apple released new iPad Pro models with tandem OLED displays, which have two organic light-emitting layers stacked together, making them brighter, more energy efficient, and longer-lasting than single-layer OLED displays. These same advantages will also extend to future Vision Pro models that use this technology.

Currently, the Vision Pro is equipped with two 4K Micro OLED displays provided by Sony.
