Google's upcoming Pixel models have been leaking non-stop, and today is no exception. In the first leak today, we get some details about the software versions, storage options, battery, and charging of the Pixel 9 series. Let's get straight to the point.

The Pixel 9 series is rumored to run Android 14 instead of Android 15, which breaks Pixel tradition just as a new high-end Pixel released in August broke the tradition of an October release.

This is most likely due to Android 15 not being completed by the end of August, which in itself is nothing new - last year, Android 14 was also delayed.

The starting storage capacity of Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL is 128GB. Pixel 9 will be equipped with 12GB of RAM, and Pro will be equipped with 16GB. Pixel 9 will also be available in 256GB, and Pro will be available in 256GB/512GB/1TB.

The upcoming phones appear to have improved charging speeds compared to their predecessors, with the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro touted to charge to 55 percent in 30 minutes, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL will charge to 70 percent in the same time.

This will all be enabled by Google's 45W USB-C charger, which will be available when it launches. Currently, Google only sells a 30W USB-C charger. The Pixel 9 Pro XL will have a 5,060 mAh battery, 10 mAh larger than the Pixel 8 Pro it will replace. For reference, the Pixel 8 Pro was able to reach 50% charge in 30 minutes using a 30W USB-C charger.

Google also promises "24 hours" of battery life for all models, and up to 100 hours in "extreme power saving" mode.
