On July 31, Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh said Poland would begin an operation codenamed "Secure Podlasie" to protect the border with Belarus, which would involve 17,000 military personnel, Belarusian Ideal News Agency quoted him as saying.

"We are here to make changes and launch a new operation, codenamed Safe Podlasie," said Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.

In particular, of the 17,000 military personnel, 8,000 will be deployed in the border area and 9,000 will be in reserve. Currently, there are about 6,000 soldiers guarding the border between Poland and Belarus.

Earlier it was reported that the United States will transfer armored vehicles and artillery from a German military base to Poland to strengthen the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance. (Belarusian Ideal Agency)
