According to the Uber official website, Uber andBYDAnnounced a collaboration that will add 100,000 electric vehicles to the platform.

Uber Technologies Inc. and BYD Co., Ltd. today announced a multi-year strategic partnership to bring 100,000 new BYD electric vehicles to Uber’s platform in key markets around the world. The partnership will initially launch in Europe and Latin America, and is expected to provide best-in-class pricing and financing services to BYD drivers on the Uber platform, and will expand to markets such as the Middle East, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

To support drivers in their adoption of electric vehicles, the companies’ joint efforts may also include discounts on charging, vehicle maintenance or insurance, as well as financing and leasing offers, based on what best suits the needs of drivers in specific markets.

The two companies will also work together to develop future BYD self-driving cars and deploy them on the Uber platform. As the world's largest on-demand travel and delivery platform, Uber is well-positioned to bring self-driving car technology to a global audience on a large scale.

“Both Uber and BYD are committed to creating a cleaner, greener world through innovation, and I’m excited to work together toward that future,” said BYD Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu.

“As the largest agreement of its kind, we’re excited about the many benefits this partnership will bring to drivers, riders, and cities,” said Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber CEO. “When Uber drivers switch to an electric vehicle, they can save up to four times more on emissions costs than the average driver simply because they’re on the road more. Many riders have also told us that their first EV ride was an Uber trip, and we’re excited to help demonstrate the benefits of electric vehicles to more people around the world.”

“We are excited to work with a global leader like Uber to not only accelerate the transition to electric vehicles, but also make green transportation affordable for everyone,” said Li Xiaojia, BYD Executive Vice President and CEO of BYD Americas. “This collaboration marks a new era in the electrification of urban transportation, and we look forward to seeing our cutting-edge electric vehicles become a common sight on the streets of cities around the world.”
