What are the real usage scenarios of an Android tablet?

Is it mainly for watching TV series, providing a rich audio-visual experience? Is it collaborative office, an important part of productivity? Or is it large-screen e-sports, opening up a broader horizon for gamers?

In recent years, Android manufacturers have re-entered the tablet market, connecting their own product ecosystems, trying to improve user stickiness with a more comprehensive and user-friendly experience, and even "binding" to their own ecosystems. However, in practice, several major brands have successively come up with standard answers of "11 inches, 2K, 870 or higher performance", and the so-called ecosystem is often limited to prescribed actions such as file transfer and cross-screen operation, and the phenomenon of product convergence is obvious. But is this the optimal solution for Android tablets? Is it the answer that all users expect?

Perhaps Lenovo is one of the first manufacturers to think about this issue systematically. Starting from user needs, the functions of the product are added or deleted, and the features are selected as appropriate to meet the more personalized needs of users. Based on this idea, we have seen the birth of two generations of Savior Y700 and its dominance in the market segment. And now, thanks to the support of IT Home and Lenovo, we have the opportunity to experience the newly released Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 2025, which may be another comprehensive audio-visual tablet with precise positioning and aimed at light entertainment for family students.

In this public testing activity, the author selected the comfortable version model, which has the color of "LUNA GREY" (gray dome), 8+256 configuration, and comes with an optional combination of protective case + stylus.

Let's disassemble the tablet host first. This time, Xiaoxin chose a relatively youthful and dynamic packaging style, and randomly included a 45W charger and cable, and surprisingly, a card ejector pin for opening the microSD card slot.

I took out the tablet and looked at it carefully. I was impressed by the thin and light texture of the machine. The all-metal body and exquisite integrated stamping process have achieved the perfect flagship feel, which is a complete leapfrog experience for this price range. As for the specific thickness, the author manually measured it with a vernier caliper and it was about 6.8mm, while the official data was 6.9mm, which is the standard performance of the flagship Android tablet. The camera on the front of the machine is centered, and the frame is relatively narrow among products of the same level. At the same time, it adopts a screen-free bracket design, which looks beautiful and generous (here is a knock on a certain international brand). The back is a family-style two-color design. The logo is placed in the center with an embossed process, and the texture of the upper color-matching part is quite Shin-chan's. The device-related information is laser engraved in the lower middle part, and the huge Dolby Logo suggests that its audio-visual experience is worth looking forward to.

In terms of the frame and buttons, the machine adopts a side-mounted four-speaker design, which is obviously designed for voice playback. The Type-C charging port is located in the middle of the short side on the right, and the volume button, power button and camera are all integrated in the upper left corner of the device, making the device relatively simple as a whole. The lower long side is equipped with a fixed card slot and three magnetic suction points for the magnetic keyboard. Unfortunately, the keyboard is not included in this set, so a detailed experience cannot be given for the time being.

Next, let's turn on the machine and experience it. After the Lenovo Logo animation, the activation interface shows the ZUI 16 logo, looking forward to our further exploration. The deepest impression ZUI left on me was the huge "ZUK" on the roof when I visited Lenovo Beiyan in 2017, and the enthusiastic introduction of Z2 Edge and Moto Mods by the staff of the exhibition hall. Seven years have passed in a blink of an eye, and all kinds of people and things have gone forever like the sunset on Houchangcun Road in that summer.

Farewell is for a better reunion. Let’s take a look at today’s Lenovo tablet and the evolved ZUI.

In addition to a series of general settings, such as account login, user agreement, and backup synchronization, ZUI has thoughtfully set up a notification management interface. For many ordinary users, there is a certain learning cost to comprehensively set the notification habits of each App. Therefore, embedding the general display habits into the boot guide to a certain extent reflects the user group that the product is targeting and the exploration of their needs. In addition, the author did not realize that this machine has fingerprint recognition before, so when the side fingerprint setting interface popped up, it was still a bit of a surprise.

Entering the main interface, the author found that the display of APPs chose a semi-drawer mode, that is, all apps are presented on the main interface, but are also displayed in the drawer, rather than the traditional drawer-style design in which desktop icons are only shortcuts and can be deleted.

At the same time, after entering the main interface, we can experience this 12.7-inch LCD screen more comprehensively. The screen resolution reaches 2944*1840, supports 144Hz dynamic refresh rate, and supports P3 color gamut 10bit color depth, with good quality. As a comfortable model, this machine achieves hardware-level low blue light and has passed TÜV Rheinland's low blue light, no reflection, and no flicker certification. Combined with DC dimming, adaptive color temperature, and software eye protection mode, this Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 has an outstanding eye protection effect, which is very suitable for home use, and is also suitable for light productivity scenarios such as watching online course documents for a long time.

So what is the actual experience of the device? Considering that everyone's reviews are presented in a similar way and order, in the following, the author will try to use "a day in the life of a college student" as the axis to connect the experience of each link and section and explore more possibilities of combining products with actual application scenarios.

Get up in the morning, wash up. Choose a motivational song as the background music, and face the challenges ahead with a full attitude. Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 adopts a symmetrical four-speaker design, and the sound from JBL, combined with Dolby sound effects, brings us a more shocking acoustic experience. In addition, the machine also integrates background sound at the system level, which is also a good choice when you need to create a suitable atmosphere.

In terms of software, after testing by the author, NetEase Cloud Music perfectly adapts to horizontal and vertical screen scenarios, while QQ Music will adjust the parallel perspective.

Sit on the toilet and open the home page (crossed out). IT Home has excellent optimization for tablets, and has accurately identified the small tail of this new device. During the reading of the article, the device will intelligently adjust the frame rate according to the sliding situation, 60 when stationary and 120 when sliding, to ensure smooth follow-up and elegant rebound.

A busy day starts with making a schedule. I tried to open the sticky note app, and the floating window mode was evoked by default. Of course, I can also switch to full screen, split screen, or minimize it freely. This stylus from Lenovo has been greatly optimized at the software and hardware levels, which is a great improvement compared to the same series of devices that I have experienced before. The pen delay is low during handwriting, and combined with the display effect of the comfortable version, a paper-like writing experience is obtained. In addition, the Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 supports the entire Microsoft family well. To-do and OneNote, which will be mentioned later, evoke the tablet interface without compatibility issues.

At work, cross-device collaboration can greatly improve the efficiency of a series of application scenarios. To this end, ZUI and Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 have done a lot of work to provide a nearly complete ecological solution. Currently supported devices include Lenovo, Moto mobile tablets and any Windows laptops, which is very friendly to other Win users.

In terms of functions, I think the most convenient one is cross-end file management. Based on years of notebook R&D experience, Lenovo has chosen a system-level integration approach, directly using Windows Explorer instead of a third-party window, which is undoubtedly the most convenient choice. For example, the device screenshots in this article are directly dragged to the computer using cross-end file management for further editing and processing. The file transfer station can achieve faster file transfer, which is more advantageous for a small number of single files. In terms of other functions, the webcam has low latency and supports picture-in-picture, which is mainly suitable for scenarios such as video conferencing; keyboard and mouse crossing and interconnected clipboard are standard operations and are equally smooth to use; the only drawback is that the cross-screen delay of the application is general but there is a screen distortion phenomenon from time to time, and the switching device must be restarted, which needs to be optimized.

As a 12.7-inch large-screen tablet, Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 can play a role in light productivity in our daily work. The author tested the entire Microsoft family bucket, which has good compatibility and is adapted to the horizontal screen; the system's built-in Painting World Pro and Enjoy Notes (formerly Lenovo Notes) have been optimized. Among them, Enjoy Notes comes with a three-month membership with the machine, which is worth a try.

After work and study, "buy and then watch iQiyi" is often the fate of tablets in the hands of many people. After get off work, the quasi-3K ultra-high-definition screen and four-speaker stereo panoramic sound are enough to be the best choice for us to watch dramas and movies. In terms of software adaptation, Bilibili and Mango support parallel vision, while iQiyi and Youku have special optimizations for horizontal screens.

As a tablet with a sub-flagship processor like Dimensity 8300, although the large size makes it not suitable for professional games, after testing by the author and friends, the operation performance is good in most games. Specifically, we tried "League of Legends Mobile", "Egg Party", and the recently launched "Naraka: Bladepoint" and "Zero", which can achieve full HD smoothness without screen recording. The tablet also has a relatively simple game mode, which supports basic functions such as highlight recording and anti-mistouch.

A hearty game will consume a lot of power, but for this Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 with a 10000mAh super large battery, battery life is not a big problem. At the same time, 45W fast charging solves the charging problem of many tablets with "large reservoirs and small sluice gates". According to our test, using the original 45W charger, 0 to 100% power can be replenished from 5:45 to 7:09, and it can be fully charged in about 1 hour and 20 minutes. At the same time, its fast charging compatibility is also very good. The author's Samsung 120W, Tegic 65W, Shanji 140W, and Kutai Ke No. 15 140W can all evoke 45W PD fast charging.

Late at night, read before going to bed. The Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 Comfort Edition's multiple eye protection features in software and hardware give us a softer reading experience. The Comfort Edition's built-in reading mode further simulates the effect of paper, and is linked to the power saving mode. Even if you fall asleep while reading, you don't have to worry about the battery life the next day.

Let me briefly summarize the user experience. I think this Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 Comfort Edition has delivered a relatively satisfactory answer to its potential user groups. More resources are used to improve the daily experience, such as screens, charging, etc., rather than the standard answers previously used by the entire industry. For families with children, for students, and for office workers with new productivity needs, this tablet will be a good choice.
