IT Home reported on July 30 that Apple launched a preview of a new AI feature called "Apple Intelligence" in the first beta version of iOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1. The company not only detailed how these features work and the privacy mechanisms behind them, but also allowed users to view a detailed privacy report to understand how Apple Intelligence handles their requests.

Apple Intelligence is Apple's general name for new AI features. For example, users can now ask the system to rewrite text, or summarize messages or emails. These features can use language models on the device or online. To ensure user privacy,Apple developed its own chip and called it the "Private Compute Module" (PCC), which is used to process the request online, is fully encrypted, and even Apple cannot access the data. After the processing is completed, all data will be permanently deleted.

Apple says iOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1 will provide an "Apple Intelligence Report"Users can check whether their requests are processed by the device or Apple's PCCIT Home noted that since the report may contain sensitive data, users need to verify their identity through facial recognition or fingerprint recognition before they can view it.Apple generates this report by default and keeps it on the device for 15 minutes, but users can change the settings to extend the retention time to 7 days or turn it off completely.

It is worth noting that the Apple Intelligence feature will not be available in the official versions of iOS 18.0 and macOS 15.0 released this fall. In addition, this feature requires an iPhone 15 Pro series model or a Mac and iPad equipped with an M1 chip or higher.
