IT Home reported on July 30 that according to TheElec, Apple plans to release the iPhone SE 4 next year, and LG Display will serve as the second OLED screen supplier.

According to reports, BOE has been the exclusive supplier of screens for Apple's budget iPhone SE. However, next year BOE will become the main supplier.LG Display, as the second supplier, mainly provides screens for older models.

The iPhone SE series, which Apple has mainly launched in emerging markets such as India, often uses parts from other older iPhone models but always has a relatively new application processor that outperforms similarly priced rivals.

The upcoming iPhone SE4 will use the OLED screen previously used on the iPhone 13, which will simplify the production process for screen manufacturers. Apple has been cultivating BOE as its iPhone OLED screen supplier to weaken the influence of Samsung Display and LG Display.

IT Home noted that BOE has reportedly faced difficulties in obtaining large orders for iPhones in the past, and it has difficulty implementing the required hole-punch screen technology on the iPhone 15. In addition, the company has also encountered difficulties in producing OLED screens for the iPhone 16, so its output is expected to be lower than that of its Korean competitors.
