The latest generation of 4D imaging perception radar high-speed toll station digital twin application system created by Nanjing Huiershi Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Huiershi") has achieved remarkable results in the six months since its launch at the Hubei Yichang High-speed Toll Station. Thanks to this system, the toll station operation and management department can not only see the detailed situation of each vehicle at 16 toll gates at one time, but also see the vehicle conditions on 23 lanes.

The latest generation of 4D imaging perception radar can accurately distinguish objects and their behaviors. Based on the original speed, distance and horizontal azimuth detection, it adds target height recognition and higher imaging resolution, making the long-distance detection accuracy meet the actual use requirements.

The application of "wide-area long-range multi-target radar" in transportation is the first idea of Zhang Jun, chairman of Huiersi. "Wide-area radar has the advantages of all-weather, all-day, long-range detection, and high-precision positioning, which fully meets the requirements of smart transportation." Zhang Jun led the team to use radar to solve low (altitude), small (target), slow (speed), and dense (people and vehicles) traffic problems, starting from product design and re-building "product + algorithm".

Zhang Jun graduated from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics with a degree in electronic engineering and entered the transportation industry in 2003. In 2012, Huiershi was founded and settled in Nanjing Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone. It is mainly engaged in the design, research and development, manufacturing and scene application promotion of miniaturized intelligent radars in the fields of transportation and safety. In order to test the product, Zhang Jun spent tens of millions of yuan to deploy the product at intersections with heavy traffic in the city. Four radars were deployed at one intersection, and the self-developed radar product was repeatedly optimized. After it was fully launched on the market in 2016, it immediately received rave reviews. In 2016, Huiershi participated in the National 863 Project and created the first domestic radar-vision fusion product in 2018.

It was in this year that the wide-area radar smart transportation track exploded, with hundreds of companies pouring in across the country, and more than a dozen new companies emerging in Nanjing alone within a year. "This is a good thing, which shows that we are on the right path." Zhang Jun said that the core of the product is design, and the participation of a large number of companies in promoting the construction and development of the industrial chain will leave room for choice in the production and procurement of components, which will help control the cost of innovative products.

At present, Huiershi has sold more than 100,000 radars, covering more than 20,000 intersections in more than 200 cities across the country, covering nearly 10,000 kilometers of highways, and participating in more than 100 smart city construction projects, and participating in the construction of 12 of the 16 "dual-smart city" pilot projects across the country. Among them, Huiershi's latest product, 4D imaging perception radar, accounts for more than 15% of all its radar products, and product sales have tripled compared with last year.

In Zhang Jun's view, data platforms have irreplaceable value for smart transportation. Huiersi has created three platforms: the "Dayu" software platform, the "Jingwei" data platform, and the "Bianhong" evaluation platform, forming a radar-based intelligent perception network. "We must do our industry well and then develop the second curve. Radar has huge potential demand in practical application scenarios such as highways, vehicle-road collaboration, industrial production, and security prevention." Zhang Jun said.

【Enterprise Testimonials】

To do business, you must have the spirit of craftsmanship, have a deep insight into application scenarios, and polish products. Although this is boring, we must put emotions first, be professional, pragmatic and innovative to produce high-quality products. We hope that through the joint efforts of us and our peers, people will not be troubled by traffic lights in the future, nor will they worry about unpredictable traffic accidents. Smooth traffic and safe and comfortable journeys pose higher challenges to radar. From intelligent radar to cognitive radar, the breakthrough core concept lies in "cognition", and the Huiersi R&D team will continue to explore and move forward.
