Upcoming tactical horror FPS game Sunstrike: The Last Airbender has delayed its Early Access release date on Steam, and the delay is quite unusual.

Steam is flooded with tactical evacuation shooters at the moment, but at least Sunbreakers breaks away from the typical military sim aesthetic and instead drops a bunch of weird aliens at players. However, if you were planning on jumping into the game on early access in August, you might want to adjust your plans a bit, as the developer has pushed back the release date to avoid going head-to-head with some of its competitors' blockbusters.

Combining the action of FPS games like Escape from Tarkov with horror and sci-fi elements seems to be a winning combination, and many are very much looking forward to getting their hands on it to see if this holds true in practice. Sunshine of the Sun was originally said to enter Early Access on August 6, but in a new announcement today, developer Doghowl revealed that they will be delaying the launch by a week.

As such, the new Early Access release date for Days of Future Past is Tuesday, August 13th.

It's rare to see a major date like this pushed back by such a short amount of time - in most cases, delays to any stage of a game are usually measured in weeks, months, or even years, not days. However, as Doghowl explains, this delay isn't due to a major bug fix or last-minute polish that popped up, but is actually more due to external factors.

The studio said: “If you follow the gaming industry news, you may know that many big game updates and alpha tests have been announced for release on August 6th - which was our previously planned Early Access release date for Doghowl. With this in mind, our team has decided to give the game an extra week so that we don’t go head-to-head with those blockbuster releases!”

By the way, "Delta Operation" will conduct Alpha testing on August 6, and "Bad Divers 2" will also release an update on August 6.

Even with its new release date, however, Doghowl may still face two larger, more direct competitors. The next Escape from Tarkov reset is scheduled for sometime in August, and another upcoming evacuation shooter, Arena Breakout Infinite, says its early access release is imminent.
